Well, lucky me. No jury duty! I made the call at 5:30 and had to hear the recording go through the many names on the cancel list. Of course, my name is always one of  the last to be called if at all. Fortunately I was on the cancel list and now have fulfilled my obligation for another year.

No murder case for me this time!

AAC media day today and UConn represented!!!!

The team was picked to win the conference again. Kia Nurse was selected preseason player of the year. Katie Lou Samuelson joined Kia on the 1st team and Gabby Williams along with Napheesa Collier were on the 2nd team.

Four of the best players in the league on one team.

Well, Monday at 5:30 I have to call the Jury Duty phone number to see if I have to go in on Tuesday for jury duty.

I must be on the recall list. It seems I get asked to serve almost every year.

I've only had to go in twice and was not selected either time. Once they never called on me and the other I was asked a few question and then told to leave.

Maybe this time I get to serve on a jury? We shall see!!!

Congrats to the LA Sparks, who behind a terrific effort from Candace Parker, beat the Minnesota Lynx 77-76 to win the WNBA Championship.

Parker had 20 points in the first half and finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Ogwumike grabbed an offensive rebound and put in the winning basket with 2.1 seconds left in the game.

Maya Moore was spectacular as well with 25 points and 11 assists.

Late night bowling. I had two ok games, but I did bowl a 243, high game for the league so far!!!!

Now I'm going to watch some of the debate.......hope I don't have nightmares!

The All American Conference (AAC) came into existence three seasons ago. Since inception, UConn is undefeated in every regular season AAC games. The Huskies are also undefeated in every AAC tournament game. That comes to 63 straight victories against AAC opponents. While several games have been close, UConn has been perfect.

UConn's 3 AAC titles brings their regular season conference championship to 22. The Huskies won 21 tournament titles to bring their grand total to 43 conference championships. Go Huskies..!!

Ahhhh.......the colors of fall. The trees turning bright red, orange, .......glorious, just glorious.

Now the colors turn to Navy blue, white and grey. With the occasional bright red! UConn's colors.

The full practices have begun and soon we will be getting practice reports. I can't wait to start linking and reading them!!!

In the shadow of UConn's Big 3, Kia Nurse quietly had two very fine years. Consider her combined statistics for the Huskies:

1. Kia is the only player to have appeared in every game the past two years.
2. She started after her 2nd game freshman year and all 38 games last year.
3. Nurse scored 753 points in two years, 119 from the free throw line, 306 from three pt arc and 328 from inside the arc.
4. Both seasons, Kia has had 100+ assists. (108 and 104)
5. Her two year average for free throw accuracy is 73.5% or 119-162.
6. Nurse has averaged 98 rebounds per season as a freshman and sophomore. 
7. Her career assists to turnover ratio is 1.85.

The jury is out whether Kia will play point or shooting guard this season. Odds are she will do both. In any case, it's a good bet she will excel in either role and lead the Huskies throughout the season.
