For those interested in pointless pre-season information, here is a link to Charlie Creme's Bracketology based on absolutely nothing.

Of interest, UConn is a No. 1 seed. Yay!
Tennessee is a No. 9 seed. Haha.
Notre Dame is a No. 5 seed. I think that might be high.

It's not reality, but I would take UConn's bracket in a heartbeat. A sure trip to the Final Four!

Will she or won't she? No word yet on Evina Westbrook and her waiver request to play this season for the UConn Huskies. But Geno sounded confident for the first time this year about her chances of getting that waiver.

Here are a few more videos!!!

I hate to start the new season off with a negative Fun with Numbers, but picking on Arike Ogunbowale is just so much fun. Everyone remembers the tight race for WNBA Rookie of the Year last season between Arike and Napheesa. Well, it shouldn't have even been close. Consider this:

1. Arike MISSED 337 shots during the season. Those misses were 61.2% of her shots.
2. Napheesa took 341 shots all season. So Arike missed as many shots as Collier took. Can you say volume shooter...
3. Arike made 38.8% of her shots, Napheesa made 49.0%. Not even close.
4. Pheesa's overall stats were higher in every category except assists (106 vs 87).

But what about the fact that Dallas needed Arike to shoot so often?  That myth is a lie. Consider:
1. The other Dallas guard, Allisha Gray, played all 34 games and shot the ball far better than Arike.
2. Overall shooting % was Gray 45.7% vs Arike at 38.8%.
3. Three point shooting was Gray 38.4% vs Arike at 35.2%.
4. Free throw shooting, again Gray was better at 84.8% vs Arike at 81.5%.

Arike shoots because she wants to score as many points as possible. It doesn't matter that there was a better shooter playing right next to her.

Go Huskies..!!

Image result for it's great to be back

Well, with First Night right around the corner, I thought maybe it was time to start the blog again!!

It's been a great spring/summer! Lots of good golf, a vacation in Tennessee. Yes, really I was in Knoxville for about 30 minutes, dropping off my son at a rental car place. We had a week in the Smokey Mountains and had a wonderful time.

I won't be at First Night this year, but I have the best reason. My granddaughter Noa is becoming a Bat Mitzvah this Saturday in Florida. I leave Friday afternoon and I can't believe how old I feel.

The rest of the grandkids are great too! Logan is now 4, Barrett is 16 months and walking! Mya is my golfing granddaughter. I love it! There is even a guest appearance of my beautiful wife.

Ok, that's it for family shots! Now, a little basketball!!!

A few housekeeping items.

I bought a new laptop! The good ole faithful up and died on me.

I'm updating the links that I always have at the bottom of my blog. I might have missed a few, but I'm sure that someone will point it out to me!!

I posted a few UConn links and a few links about some of our favorite teams.

I'm going to ease back into writing. It always takes a few weeks to get into it again. Kinda like preseason practice. You have to work out the kinks from a long off season!!

Image result for so whats new

Well, plenty, if you are talking UConn women's basketball. We said goodbye to the highest scoring classmates in UConn history, combining for 4,743 points in Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier. They will be missed. But this blog is about the future and the future is NOW!

The Huskies are three returning starters and four returning bench players. And they add four new players to the roster.

There is probably only four sure starters going into the preseason game.

PG - Senior Crystal Dangerfield
SG - Sophomore Christyn Williams
C - Sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa
F - Junior Megan Walkerd

I really have no idea which direction Geno will go in regards to the fifth starter. Will he go small and put another guard on the floor? Does he want Walker on the wing, so start a big forward? Time will tell.

Coming back this season are Senior guard Molly Bent, Senior forward Kyla Irwin and RS Senior forward Batouly Camara.

What really makes this years team exciting is the possibilities of the four new players and what they bring to the team.

It's very unusual for UConn to take transfers and even more unusual when they take two. Graduate Student Evelyn Adebayo is a 6'2" forward from Murray State and Junior Evina Westbrook, a 6' guard/wing from (can you believe it?) Tennessee!! UConn is still waiting to hear from the NCAA on the disposition of her transfer waiver request.

These two are probably the favorite for the fifth starter spot.

The final two players on the roster are the only two true freshmen, 6'1" guard Aubrey Griffin and 6'1" guard Anna Makurat. I just love size in the backcourt and on the wing!

I'll probably do a write up for each player before the season starts in future blogs.

I really like the makeup of this team. Geno has high expectations for his players and I don't see why we shouldn't feel the same way.
