 This chart is just amazing.

And against the toughest schedule in the country, they are 10-2 and will soon be back in the top 5 in the rankings.

They haven't had ONE game where everyone on the 10 player available list to start the season has been available.

I believe against Butler on 1/3 it just might happen.

Straight from the Dog

Several upsets to report in the Top 25 what should impact No. 9 UConn's rankings. 3 in the Top seven!

No. 4 Indiana lost it's first game of the season to unranked Michigan State 83-78.  Mackenzie Holmes had 32 points and 12 rebounds for the Hoosiers but it wasn't enough to oversome the four Spartans in double figures led by Kamaria McDanials' 24 points. Indiana stuggled with the ball, turning it over 21 times. How far will the Hoosiers drop after this loss?

Well, both No. 6 and No. 7 lost Wednesday night as well.

No. 6 North Carolina State lost to unranked Duke 72-58. It looks like Kara Lawson has something going there in Blue Devil land. She has them at 12-1 and 2-0 in the ACC with this big win on the road. They should enter the Top 25 next week.

And No. 7 Virginia Tech was beaten by unranked Clemson 64-59. This is the same Clemson team that lost to South Carolina 85-31, Kansas State 76-38, NCST 77-59 and Arkansas 76-62. Not just losses but bad losses. It makes Virginia Tech's loss here a pretty bad one.

Also, one of UConn's win was against unranked Florida State who upset No. 13 North Carolina Wednesday night 78-71.

Ok, so No. 8 UConn beat No. 21 Creighton and No.s 4, 6, and  7 all lost.

I'm sure that No. 5 Notre Dame will remain in that spot even after squeaking by unranked Miami. Here is my guess for Monday's poll.

1 - South Carolina
2 - Stanford
3 - Ohio State
4 - Notre Dame
5 - UConn
6 - LSU
7 - Indiana
8 - UCLA
9 - North Carolina State
10 - Virginia Tech

----------------------------------------------------
Yeah, they were playing one of the best defensive teams in the country in No. 1 South Carolina, but still, they are supposed to be a relevant Division I/Power Five team. Texas A&M has really gone downhill since Gary Blair retired. Tonight they hit rock bottom.

The Aggies had 15 straight seasons with 20+ win seasons before his 14-15 year to end his career. This season they are now 5-8 with this embarrassing 42 point loss to the Gamecocks.

So how bad?

Well, they only scored 34 points. They shot 23.5% from the field, 3-22 on threes, and 22 turnovers.

Whew.....really bad.

So congrats to Texas A&M on their putrid performance and winning the latest UGGY award. This one has a shot at UGGY of the Year.

----------------------------------------------------

Tennessee won again, getting closer and closer to being ranked again. It's fortunate for them that the SEC is so down this season. They beat unranked Florida 77-67 behind a great offensive effort from Rickea Jackson, who scored 28 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Lady Vols.

A pretty good win for Tennessee. However, it must be tempered with the quality of Florida. The Gators have pretty much ZERO good wins, the best against Miami. And they lost to Florida State by 15 points and Oklahoma by 16 points.

I need to see more before I believe the Lady Vols are "back".

Marquette

Marquette is having a solid season. They have had some really good wins. They beat then ranked No. 3 Texas 68-61, now ranked No. 19 Gonzaga 70-66 in back to back games and followed that with an overtime loss to then ranked No. 20 UCLA 66-58 in overtime.

Some bad losses as well. In their last two games they lost big to Colorado 71-48 and in their last game they lost to Villanova 54-52. Their only other loss was against Seton Hall 82-78. That game is one of the comparative games with UConn, who beat the Pirates 98-73.

Game Analysis

Marquette lost their two leading scorers form last season in Lauren Van Kleunen and Karisa McLaughlin. Van Kleumen was a handful. At 6'2" and solid, she was tough to deal with in the post. McLauglin was by far their best three point shooter. Both players are really missed.

Here are the returning players.

5"11" Senior Jordan King is the leading scorer and has the most assist as well. She averages 15.3 PPG and 4 APG. She is the only three point threat on the team shooting 42.9% from deep. Not only the best player, she is the team leader as well.

Lisa Karlen, a 6'2" junior forward brings some rebounding to the team and leads Marquette in blocks at 23. She is averaging 11.3 PPG and 7.8 RPG.

6'1" senior forward Chloe Marotta is a solid shooter as she doesn't take many out of her range, which is right around the basket. She is a pretty good defender as well. And she is the leading rebounder on the team at 8.6 RPG. She is second on the team in scoring at 13.5 PPG.

5'7" junior guard Rose Nkumu and 5'9" senior guard Nia Clark round out the starting lineup. Both are solid but not spectacular players and their main job is to defend the opponent's guards and take care of the ball. They don't add much to the offense.

Same can be said for the bench. They have only three guards coming off the bench. No size. And two of them are freshmen. We know how tough that can be. Marquette is not a very good offensive teams and they really rely on the top three scorers. Stop them and the Golden Eagle struggle to score.

Defensively, the Golden Eagles play exclusively a man-to-man. And they will have problems like Creighton did in guarding Edwards and Juhasz. They just don't have the size to handle them.

UConn will try to uptempo this game. They will run on almost every defensive rebound. But Marquette is always very physical and hopefully no one gets hurt.

Prediction

Based on the season to date, Marquette is really going to struggle to score over 50 points in this game. They have little three point shooting so UConn's defense can concentrate on protecting the basket.

It really looks like one of those conference miss-matches.
