UConn redshirt junior Aubrey Griffin was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 70 percent shooting last week. She scored a career-high 29 points over Princeton on Thursday and recorded a game-high 15 rebounds at Maryland on Sunday.

I've mentioned this before but it's worth saying again. I thought that Edwards after her freshman season reminded me of Bayor's All-American Nalyssa Smith. Both big forwards who are very mobile. But her sophomore year did not live up to those standards.
This season? She is playing every bit as good as Smith did her junior season. And that is saying something.
I just hope she gets the national recognition she deserves.

Straight from the Dog
I just couldn't do it. There were a couple of games that had an UGGY performance, but it's so annoying to see how some top teams schedule these poor weak teams and just kill them.
No. 18 Baylor, carrying on the Kim Mulkey tradition, hammers Tennessee State 93-27. I mean, what is the point.
Tennessee State shot 21.4% from the field, 1-16 on threes, 2-6 from the FT line. And 24 turnovers. The 27 points and all those stats are worth an UGGY, but I didn't have it in me.
UConn's next opponent Florida State took on the powerhouse Presbyterian team. They clobbered them 98-37. While the 37 points were 10 more than Tennessee State did against Baylor, their stats were just as bad.
The Blue Hose (Hose?) shot 25.9% from the field, 5-27 on threes and an amazing 34 turnovers. I'm sure playing this team really prepared Florida State for what they will see against UConn......

Speaking of Florida State, I would like this team if they weren't playing UConn. Lots of good athletes. 5'8" freshman guard Ta'naya Latson is a terrific player. She scored 25 in this game and is the leading scorer on the Seminoles averaging that 25 PPG.
Like UConn, they have a limited roster and really only play 7-8 players. They do have 40 year old Jazmine Massengill, the former Kentucky Wildcat and Tennessee Volunteer, playing her graduate season.
Hopefully I'll put together a pregame report. Florida life keeps me kinda busy.

I watched some of the South Carolina game against South Dakota State and once again they were really underwhelming. The final was 62-44 but it was only 6 points in the fourth quarter before the Gamecocks pulled away.
Defensively, they are a tough team. With Boston and Cardoso protecting the rim and Beal on the perimeter, the Gamecocks are going to win and win and win.
However, their weak offense will be their downfall. They only scored 62 point, shot 34.3% from the field, 2-15 on threes. Only 10 assists and 12 turnovers.
Bad shooting will end up biting them in the ass. Hopefully when they play UConn.
