Well, UConn didn't get the No. 1 seed that I thought they deserved. Looking at all the criteria that the selection committee supposedly used, the Huskies had a better resume than Stanford and Virginia Tech. So, it must have been something else that they used to make their seeding decisions. What was it? No idea.

However, the Huskies have a great draw and I feel have a great chance to get to the Final Four. My only worry is that this seems to be the year of breaking streaks and the FF streak is always in jeopardy. I don't like to get to far ahead of the games so lets focus on who's next.

No. 15 seed Vermont should be no problem for UConn. I've gone to first round games and they can get ugly pretty quickly. I think I saw a UConn 65 point win one year.

The Catamounts take on the Huskies at Gample on Saturday at 3:00 on ABC.

I might do a quick pregame report but don't count on it. Not much to say other than it will be a good game to get their feet wet and give everyone some minutes.

The big question around the UConn team on some message boards is whether or not Azzi Fudd will be back in the starting lineup. Arguements on both sides have their points, but I settle in on the side that says Fudd will be starting. Look, she is the best player on the team and at the beginning of the season with all 10 players available, she was of course, starting.

Geno almost always starts his best player if that player is healthy enough to start.  I really can't think of one time that he didn't do that. And we all agree that Fudd is the best player. She was able to increase her playing time each game in the BE tournament and played 32 minutes against Villanova in the championship game. She will be ready to go in the NCAA tournament. Look for maximum minutes in the sweet 16 games to the final four. And beyond.

So, if Fudd starts, then who comes off the bench? My guess is Aubrey Griffin. Her shot of athleticism and defensive skill into the lineup after 7-8 minutes will really disrupt the opponents offense and Griffin will be fresh to lead fast breaks over and over. I really like her off the bench.

Here is a reminder in what Azzi will bring to the game when healthy. And as she said "I'm ready to go".
