I don't believe UConn was really ever in the mix for Betts. She never took a visit. And while UConn did get lucky with Katie Lou not playing with her sisters at Stanford, little sister appears to always be looking to play with big sis at UCLA. I guess that would be only in 2025 in the elder's Betts senior season. Good luck to both of them!!

Straight from the Dog

Once again an important Tennessee recruit is heading to another team. Kayleigh Heckel has decided to bring her skills to Southern Cal.

The best comment from a Lady Vol fan was "I guess we start looking at the portal again in the spring". That is just a terrible way to build a team. You can't count on great players being available every year and if you find one, it's not so easy to quicking incorperate them into the team flow.

I think this is the final list of players that Tennessee offered and where they ended up going.

2024 offers:

1. Imari Berry (13) To Clemson
2. Mikayla Blakes (10)
3. Alexandra Blue (41) To Virginia Tech
4. Kaniya Boyd (34) To Tennessee!
5. Jaloni Cambridge (3) Didn't make top 7
6. Justice Carlton (7) to Texas
7. Morgan Cheli (18) To UCONN
8. Kendall Dudley (14) To UCLA
9. Joyce Edwards (2)
10. Kayleigh Heckel (27) To So Cal
11. Avery Howell (23) Not top 5 to So Cal
12. Jordan Lee (8) not n top 11 to Texas
13. Tahj Monet-Bloom (38) To Mississippi State
14. Olivia Olsen (15) To Michigan
15. Me'Arah O'Neal (32)
16. Taliyah Parker (61) not top 8 To Texas A&M
17. Bryanna Preston (43) To Texas
18. Arianna Roberson (19) not top 5 To Duke
19. Clara Silva To VA Tech
20. Zania Socka-Nguemen (26) To UCLA
21. Blanca Thomas (29) To North Carolina
22. Ava Grace Watson (49) To Ohio State

It's crazy how many offers Coach Harper gives out. It's clear that her style doesn't work.  Let's look at her recruiting over the years. I'm not sure if  2021 credit goes to Harper or the prior coach.

2021 - Sarah Puckett (43), Katie Striplin (45),  Kayra Wynn (62)

2022 - Justine Pissott (11) transfered out after one season

2023 - Zero recruits

2024 - Kaniya Boyd (35)

2025 - Nyia Brooks (16)

One top 11 recruit and she left after one season. The other players are good but no game changers. It will keep them in the Top 25 maybe. You can't keep striking gold in the transfer portal.

Another reason for me to really dislike Angel Reese. Is there a player in basketball with a more inappropriate first name?

In this game against poor Queen University, Reese moves into the paint and elbows the opponent in the back. Ok...a rough play but not necessarily a dirty play. That would be in the eye of the beholder. The poor girl hurt her knee from the elbow and went down quickly. Reese gets the ball and finishes uncontested at the basket. The really poor part is how Reese didn't even check on the young woman she hit. She had to know the opponent went down. And while there is time out for the injury, Reese just walks away and heads to the bench muttering something non-stop until she sits. I looked at the video a few times. You can make up your own mind how intentional the hit to the back was.
