There is another game on Sunday. South Carolina and Notre Dame will battle it out for a chance to play against the winner of the UConn/Maryland game.

Both teams come into this matchup with only 2 losses on their resume. Notre Dame lost to UConn by 18 and in an upset, lost to Miami by 15 on the road. South Carolina lost to UConn by 25 and to Kentucky by 11 on the road.

Both teams have All-American guards in Notre Dame's Jewell Loyd and South Carolina's Tiffany Mitchell. Both teams have FOY candidates who play the post in Notre Dame's Briana Turner and South Carolina's A'ja Wilson.  These are two great matchups that could decide this game. And I see no great advantage for either team here.

The Sessions/Allen matchup of point guards should be interesting. While Sessions is not a big offensive threat, she is a really good defensive player and if she can shut down Allen or at least slow her down, it will go a long way in securing a South Carolina win. Likewise, of Allen can continue her superior play, ND has a great chance of winning.

Dozier is going to have to stick like glue to Mabrey, who has just gone off in the last 4 games, going 11-15 on threes.

The post matchup doesn't bode well for ND. Turner, Reimer and Westbed vs Ibiam, Coates, Welch and Wilson. More size and strength for South Carolina. Can Turner use her quickness and speed to beat the South Carolina bigs down the court? She will have to in order to be effective.

Almost everyone is picking Notre Dame in this matchup and I'm not sure why. I guess it's the aura of the Irish. They continue to win no matter who they are facing. It just feels to me like this is going the way of the Gamecocks in a terrific game and a very close final score.

Something like 68-65.
