DoggyDaddy's Dailies 2/9/16

******************************************************************************

Led by the big three of Stewart, Tuck and Jefferson, UConn was able to hold on and beat South Carolina 66-54. I predicted a 10+ point win so not too shabby!!

Stewart was fantastic, scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also blocked 5 shots. Tuck had 16 and Jefferson had 12.

Great job defensively until the refs decided they had no clue what a charge was. SCar was able to score 21 points in the final quarter and held UConn to 12 to turn a 21 point lead into the final score. It was not as close as that score says.

Let's be frank. Blauch and Mattingly in particular and Enterline to lesser degree sucked tonight.

No doubt about it. But this is nothing new. Refs just are bad in WCBB.

But not according to this SCar fan who said "I think that is the best officiated game I've seen this year - men or women's. they let them play and it was pretty consistent on both ends. It wouldn't kill them to call a foul or walk on Brianna Stewart here and there, but I have no complaints."

Really? It's always amazing how two people can watch the same game and see things so differently.

The next game is against Temple, who upset South Florida in their last game.

Ok.....its time for my Temple Owl rant.

Charlie Clueless Creme has his new brackets out. Lets take a look at his lower seeded at large bid teams.

Here are some teams I think Temple should be considered ahead of.

How do they compare to Temple?

Temple is 15-7 and beat Florida and South Florida.

Here are their records and currently ranked teams they have beaten.

9 seed Duke 17-8 No top 25 wins
10 seed Seton Hall 17-6 Beat DePaul
9 seed NCST 16-8 No top 25 wins
7 seed West Virginia 18-6 No top 25 wins
10 seed St. John's 17-6 Beat South Florida
8 seed Washington 16-7 Beat UCLA
11 seed Auburn 16-8 Beat Kentucky
7 seed Purdue 16-6 Beat Louisville
9 seed Southern Cal 17-7 Beat UCLA
10 seed Indiana 15-9 Beat Michigan State

Temple has more top twenty five wins than any of these. They certainly belong in the tournament more than NCST, Seton Hall, Auburn and Indiana.

The Anti-AAC conference bias SUCKS!

Can Stewie beat South Carolina all by herself? No, but many of her stats beat the best South Carolina has to offer. Consider:

1. A'ja Wilson has scored 334 points or 16.7 per game to lead the Gamecocks. Stewie has 408 pts and a 19.4 pt per game average.
2. Mitchell and Roy are making 34% and 37% of their three point shots. Stewie is making 42%.
3. Wilson leads SCar with 63 blocks. Stewie leads the Huskies with 67.
4. K. Sessions has the most assists for South Carolina at 55. Breanna has 90 assists.
5. The best free throw shooter at SC is Asia Dozierat 83.3%. Stewie makes 85.5% of her tries from the charity stripe.
6. A'ja Wilson, the best player at South Carolina, has not tried a 3 pt shot and makes 54% of her attempts from the field. Stewie makes 42% of her threes and 64% of her shots from inside the arc.
7. When it comes to turnovers, Wilson, Mitchell, Coates, Cuevas and Sessions ALL have more than Stewie's 32 turnovers.

Stewie will need help to handle South Carolina. Fortunately, MoJeff, Nurse, Tuck, KLS and Gabby are all ready to pitch in. Go Huskies..!!

Well, believe it or not, Tennessee only dropped two spots and stayed in the AP poll at No. 25. Crazy huh. But my logic was impeccable yesterday when I laid it all out. Here was my bottom six prediction.

No. 20 Florida
No. 21 Oklahoma State
No. 22 Oklahoma
No. 23 West Virginia
No. 24 DePaul
No. 25 ??????

Do they only move Tennessee down two spots? I say yes!!! They are the best 9 loss team in the country.

Yes, I predicted almost the exact rankings.

In actuality the list looked like this -

No. 20 Oklahoma State
No. 21 Oklahoma
No. 22 South Florida
No. 23 West Virginia
No. 24 DePaul
No. 25 Tennessee

So, how will the coaches poll work out?

No. 20 Miami was 2-1
No. 21 Missouri was 0-2 losing to unranked Georgia and No. 11 Mississippi State
No. 22 Florida was 1-0 beating No. 12 Texas A&M.
No. 23 Syracuse was 3-0
No. 24 Depaul was 2-0
No. 25 Tennessee was 1-1, beating unranked Arkansas and losing to Texas A&M

I won't predict the order but I can safely say that Tennessee and Missouri will drop out of the poll.

The Lady Vols can't escape this one.
