3/8/15 W 106-56 N

 Overview

UConn and East Carolina played three times

UConn is finally only one game away from the South Carolina game, and comes into this game still undefeated and on a major roll. They are not only beating these AAC team, they are just killing them. The big part of this is the UConn defense. They have dominated.

East Carolina has the misfortune of playing UConn the game before they head to South Carolina for the 1 vs 2 matchup. Their 9-13 record is actually deceiving as they 3-12 their last 15 games. The three wins are against the only teams below them in the AAC standings, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF.

ECU lost several players from last years roster and only bring back 2 starters. One is Jada Payne who is a terrific player. It's been a real struggle after a solid season last year. It will only get worse next season as they have 3 seniors starting and I'm not sure what talent they have to replace them.

 Game Analysis

ECU is lead by last years all-AAC performer in 6'2" senior Jada Payne. She is having another terrific season, as she is averaging 19.7 ppg and 9.4 rpg. I'Tiana Taylor, a 6'1" senior forward averages a double-double. That is their strength.

The Pirates issue is not from the forward position. They have plenty of size and are a strong rebounding team. They just can't shoot well and they turn the ball over often.

Both of these issues play right into UConn's strength on defense.

I could spend a lot of time with trying to analyze a game that will be a blowout. But I'd rather spend it on the South Carolina game.

UConn players shouldn't look ahead, but I can.  Hopefully I have given you some stats and a little information to help you enjoy the game more.

Final Prediction

Did I mention blowout? UConn will press early and often, turn over the sloppy Pirates and like the last game, will have a big first half. The final score depends on how much work Geno thinks they need but I would bet he gives the starters plenty of time off.

UConn by 55+. A final similar to the last game.
