I had a little surgery today. Nothing major, but I'm feeling pretty crappy. So tonight will be brief.

This always makes me feel better, so I hope it makes you smile as well.

Tennessee opened it's exhibition season with a game against Carson Newman.

I have to say, all I saw was more of the same. DDD (Diva Diamond Deshields) played the same way she always does. She dominates the ball. When she is on, and she was on for much of the game, Tennessee can score. She hit her outside shots, and really looked healthy and athletic.

I guess what is striking to me is how much they dribble the ball. So much one on one basketball. UConn sometimes doesn't dribble once after they get the ball in their set offense.

It was 41-30 at the half. DDD was excellent with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Nared was very good with 12 point and 6 rebounds. Russell? Not so good. 6 points and ZERO rebounds. As a team they were only 2-8 for 25% on threes.

The second half particularly the third quarter was the best for Tennessee. Their defense was outstanding and they scored often after misses. They ran the court well. They got two three pointers from Middleton and Nared continued her outstanding play.

If they can out-athletic the opponent, they will win. But I predict more of the same for Tennessee. I don't see 14 losses, but 8-10 would not surprise me.

By David in Naples!!!!!

Much of last night's 95-32 victory over Pace went according to script. UConn scored early & often, played stifling defense and emptied the bench to keep from winning by 100 points. There were, however, some odd stats for UConn fans to consider. Here are seven:

1. Gabby Williams scored 11 of the first 12 points and led the team with 24 points.
2. TLAW came in during the 2nd period and played over 10 minutes total. Of course, she nailed the customary 3 pt bucket.
3. Katie Lou missed the whole first half even though she was healthy and dressed.
4. Kyla Irwin had more assists (3) than Dangerfield, Saniya and Gabby.
5. UConn shot 12.5% from 3 pt range in the 2nd half, after making 41% in the 1st half.
6. Molly Bent tied Napheesa for the lead in blocked shots at 2.
7. Napheesa had 11 pts & 11 rebounds, UConn had 11 steals, Kia had 11 pts and Pace had less than 11 baskets. (10)

Go Huskies..!!
