What a great job by the Huskies today. Michigan State will win it's share of games. Yes, they were 4-0 but had beaten some pretty bad teams, but they do have some talent on their team. UConn made them look like they were standing still.

In my pregame report, I said that UConn would pressure and run, run, and run some more. They did that. I also said that their two bigs would be left in the dust. That certainly happened.

Finally, I predicted a 35 point win. Not bad, eh?

Stevens had a BIG game and I do mean big. She played all of her 6'6" dominating in the paint. But she isn't just big. She is really skilled.

Here is my UConn/Michigan State Post Game Report.

A ton of games in the top 25 Saturday -

No. 2 Texas beat up on Washington, winning 98-62 behind 24 points from South Carolina transfer Jatari White. She is a big addition to an already tough team. When Joyner Holmes returns in the second semester they will be a handful!

No. 3 South Carolina had an interesting game against St. John's. They jumped out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter. Then they only outscored the Johnnies 54-52 the rest of the way. Kentucky transfer Alexa Jennings led the Gamecocks with 24 points and A'ja Wilson added 17 points and 17 rebounds. She just plays so big. Such a tough matchup. Eight more trips to the foul line. She lives there!

No. 12 Tennessee beat up on South Dakota winning 69-49 going undefeated in the Cancun tournament. Jamie Nared won the MVP. I don't like Tennessee but I'll credit when it is due, Tennessee is just as good as Marquette, a little better than Oklahoma State and much better than Sout Dakota. Owww....that was painful..lol.

No. 25 Missouri squeaked by No. 21 California 55-52 in a really low scoring affair. Hard to believe a team can go 9-18 on threes and only score 55 points but Missouri managed that. Based on the box score, it looks like both teams walked the ball up the court. Or is that crawled.

Butler Updated

Another shout out to Natalie Butler. In a losing effort she had her SEVENTH straight double double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. She is showing that she can compete with any team on a high level. Right now she is averaging 17.1 points and 13.4 rebounds so far this season in 31.4 minutes. You can bet that her few seasons at UConn has helped her in so many ways. It's so great to see her take that to her last season in women's basketball. Her next game is against Maryland. Can't wait to see her make Brenda crazy!!

Is there a place for her in the WNBA? I'm sure you are laughing at that suggestion...but don't. Wait and see.

By David in Naples!!!!!

The closest any opponent has come to beating UConn this season is before the opening tip off. After that moment, the Huskies have outscored the other teams by 128-52 in the first 10 minutes of each game. That 76 point difference equals over 15 points per game.

During the 2nd period, UConn adds to this cushion by outscoring opponents by 98-57. Add another 41 point difference to the 76 from the 1st period and you get 117 pts or 23.4 pts at the half. It get worse. :)

UConn has dominated the 3rd period scoring as well. Add another 57 point differential and the total reaches 174. The Huskies average 34.8 more points than opponents per game through 3 periods. This explains why the Huskies have not trailed after 3 periods so far in the first five games. Not even close.

Go Huskies..!!
