How could I not comment on the terrific Stanford/Texas game. In OT Texas beat the short time #1 Stanford Cardinal 87-81. Texas showed a deep and balanced team with 4 players in double figures. Stanford was led by there two great guards Orrange and Thompson with 15 and 28 points. What a great game by Texas. In no way did Stanford have a let down. Down goes the 28 game home winning streak. Did Stanford set a record for shortest stay as #1? They never did make it there on the AP poll.
Here is a link to Mel Greenberg's look at the upcoming AP poll. BTW, he stole "musings" from me. I'd just add that the ESPN poll has ND at #2 so the "ladder" effect would put them as #1.
It really does appear that for the first time in a few years, there are several NC contenders. How much fun is THIS season going to be! And now.....
