Doggydaddy's Den: DoggyDaddy's Dailies 4/8/16

Other than winning the championship and watching the three senior All-Americans leave the court, this was the highlight of the game.

The reaction to the basket by Polly from her teammates on the bench and the coaches was priceless. The reaction from Geno was fantastic. And Chris Daily? She was jumping up and down like a little girl getting excited about getting her first puppy. I've never seen her react like that to anything, even winning 11 championships.

I loved that after Polly hugged Geno she remembered to get back on defense. It was just something that you had to see to appreciate. And you need to know her story of walking on with Tierney Lawlor, her outside interests and the good deeds she does.

As I mentioned with David Tuck, I have become friends with Briana's mother due to this blog and Facebook. A terrific lady that has agreed to be interviewed by me if I ever get around to it. I feel blessed to have watch Polly over the years and I'm so happy for her that she had her moment in the NCAA championship game. It really was remarkable.

I linked an article from a Tennessee web site asking the question " Has Geno Auriemma overtaken Pat Summitt?

It's a debate between to writers who both make a decent case for their point of few.

But it was the usual diminishing of Geno's accomplishments by the writer taking Pat's side that annoyed me. Belittling the teams that UConn played is an ignorant argument. While not the level of Tennessee's SOS, it was always a difficult schedule for Geno in the Big East and he always tried to have a tough OOC schedule as well. Even more so since joining the weak AAC.

All Pat has is more victories. Geno will pass that soon enough. But bottom line are championships. And 11-8 speaks volumes.

Speaking of Summit, Pat's son Tyler resigned after admitting to an affair with one of his players. The player had transferred from Marquette where Tyler was an assistant coach. I have linked several articles in the links area. A sad and embarrassing day for the Summit family.

It's clear that Tyler will have to find another profession. Or coach men's basketball.
