Geno Post Game Interview

Kia Nurse Post Game Interview

Napheesa Collier Post Game Interview

Azura Stevens Post Game Interview

Wow. Just Wow. If you haven't listened to Geno's post game interview, go do it now.

I've seen him upset with his players before so I'm not sure it's any different than when he benched Maya Moore and Tina Charles in one game. But it sure felt a little different.

He truly seemed both disgusted and disappointed in the entire team. He insulted them all. The only player he called out by name was Stevens. He seemed to have had it with her issues with guarding her assignments. When asked if he saw anything that would help him grow the rotation to 7 or 8 players. He said no, and maybe he has to go to only 5 players. A big slap to Stevens. You can see how hurt she was in the interview. Stunned might be the better word. Let's hope she take the Tina Charles approach and uses it for motivation.

He trashed the bench players, he trashed the starters. He was just not happy. He called them all out for how they practice.

So, is this his way of motivating the team? Partially, but partially true frustration on his part.

In the player interviews, they all seemed a little down. They know they didn't do what they needed to on both ends of the ball. Collier, when asked if she was frustrated with the younger players  said they were all frustrated with everyone.

The common theme is a lack of focus in both practice and games. Execution was the another common theme or lack thereof. Don't mention execution to Geno....he will probably say he is all for it.....and not in a good way!

I'm sure that some fans are all worked up about this. Oh...Geno is so mean.....so rude....no wonder players transfer....blah blah blah. Let me give my usual upbeat spin on this.

It might feel like this is new from Geno but it's not. Not every year, but many years, the team goes through a funk, Geno reams them out, and then they recover and play better. It's all about getting prepared for the post season games.

I have NO doubt that the team will play better in the next game. My only concern is Katie Lou, who one fan suggested that Geno sit her...FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON...lol. What a moron. I'm sure they will rest her ankle if need be, but you can be sure if she is out there, it's because she is good enough to play without further issues. That being said, this seems to be a chronic problem for her this season. And certainly cause for concern.

Even Logan is a little upset after this game.

Looking forward to Sunday's Game against Temple. Geno has said he will continue to play the bench to see if he has anything.

Ok...writing that last bit was depressing. So what do I do when depressed? I trash Tennessee. It always makes me feel better.

Fans were saying how the Tennessee bench would be a big difference maker against ND because the Irish are so short handed.

Tennessee bench - 36 minutes, 2 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 6 turnovers.
Notre Dame bench - 17 minutes, 2 points, 2 steals, 0 turnovers.

The Tennessee bench did give Warlick 19 more minutes, but no more positive production and the 6 turnovers were big. No, no advantage there.

Three minutes into the second quarter, Tennessee was up 37-14. That's a 23 point margin. From that moment on, over the next 23 minutes, Notre Dame outscored Tennessee 70-33. That's crazy!

I tried to find the Holly Warlick post game interview. It's always so entertaining and usually shows how clueless she is.

There....I'm feeling so much better!!!

Last night's 78-60 victory over Tulsa was very weird to watch. The statistics were even stranger, with very non-UConn type numbers. Consider:

1. Katie Lou and Crystal each scored 3 points.
2. The Huskies had only 15 assists on 30 baskets.
3. Kia went 5-7 from three-point range. The rest of the team went 1-8.
4. Tulsa shot better from outside the 3 pt. arc (45.8%) than inside (37.1%).
5. The bench, minus Z, went 1-13.
6. Tulsa took 24 threes, had 24 defensive rebounds and had 24 turnovers.
7. UConn took 15 threes, had 15 offensive rebounds and had 15 assists. :o
8. Napheesa played 33 minutes and had 0 fouls.
9. In the 2nd half, UConn went 3-7 from three range and 3-7 from the free throw line.

Perhaps it is best to count the win and turn the page on that game. Weird.... (:))

Go Huskies..!!

  1. Geno double talks, what he said after the Texas game and now this, geez take a chill pill. When he said he was going to play the bench more I thought he would play 1 or 2 with the regulars, rotate them in. He decides to put 4 subs in at the same time knowing exactly what would happen almost as if he wanted to get mad and blow up. Seems the travel, rough play and not using the bench is wearing the regulars down showing some injuries. The team was still working hard and give Tulsa credit they hit shots. These girls are not robots and however critical he is he should try to end with something positive. Not all players respond to criticism.
