Not to many good games Wednesday night, but Thursday is a great schedule!!!

First, No. 3 Baylor didn't look like the big bad team Wednesday night in beating No. 23 Oklahoma State 77-64. It was a five point game going into the fourth quarter. But Baylor used their twin towers, Lauren Cox with 23 points and 9 rebounds and Kalani Brown with 19 points and 18 rebounds to pull away in the fourth quarter. Just looking at the box score, Baylor gets nothing from their bench and that could hurt them at some point. Time will tell.

No. 8 Texas beat Kansas 55-41 in either a terrible display of offensive play or a terrific display of defensive prowess. I'll go with the former and not the latter. In winning they shot only 36% from the field and 25% on threes. In losing Kansas shot 31% from the field and if they didn't shoot 38% on threes they wouldn't have broken 40 points. Ugly game almost worthy of the Uggy Award!!

 Back to Thursday's games.

Of course we have No. 1 UConn visiting No. 7 South Carolina. Late breaking news is that Lindsey Spann, the best three point shooter on the Gamecocks will be out for the game. This is a big problems for South Carolina as UConn can challenge the South Carolina to hit threes while they pack the paint defensively. Can SC hit at a higher clip than their 28% without Spann's stats included? Maybe a little? But the odds are really against them.

No. 12 Tennessee vs No. 14 Texas A&M. This is a rematch where the Aggies beat the Lady Vols in a great game in OT. I really like this matchup. Even in Knoxville, this game can do either way. The Aggies Hillsman can really challenge Russell and the precocious freshman guard Chennedy Carter can explode at any time. I will give the Lady Vols the slight edge at home, but if they show the same effort that they did against LSU and let A&M dominate the offensive boards, it will be a long night for Tennessee.

No. 2 Mississippi State Visits No. 15 Missouri who is coming off a tough game against South Carolina. This should be another physical SEC matchup and I have a feeling that the Tigers might just end the Bulldogs undefeated season. the 6'7" McGowan for MSU is the wildcard. I'm not sure that Missouri has an answer for her.

On a lesser scale, No. 3 Notre Dame is playing against North Carolina. The interest in this one is the two coaches, both with a ton of wins. Muffett against Sylvia. GO TAR HEELS!!!

By David in Naples!!!!!

UConn has scored 1,819 points so far this season. That works out to 90.9 per game for 20 games. The leading scorer only has 16.6% of those points. The 6th leading scorer has 11.4% of the total. Four other players are in between those two figures. That balanced scoring will be key against South Carolina. But the Huskies are also balanced when it comes to assists.

With 448 total assists, UConn averages 22.4 per game. That is the best in the nation. Gabby leads with 97 assists with Crystal right behind at 87. What about the rest of the team? Napheesa is actually 3rd with 59 assists,  just ahead of Kia at 58. Katie Lou comes in at 47 and Azura has 45. Even Megan has 20 assists..! Let's compare that balanced passing to South Carolina.

Tayasha Harris leads their team with 141 assists. She is good and combines Crystal and Gabby into one player. She always handles the ball and runs the offense. The 2nd leading assist total after Harris is Doniyah Cliney at 48..!  She would be 5th on UConn's team with that total. A'ja Wilson is actually 4th with just 33 assists. I wonder if Geno and Company have noticed this lack of balance..? 8-)

Go Huskies..!!
