Sometimes it's just better to shut up then show everyone how dumb you are. There is this one particular Tennessee fans that spins every bad thing into a good thing for the Lady Vols.

When another Tennessee fans posted negative things about the Lady Vols, this incredibly ignorant Tennessee fans replied with something really dumb.

Yes, this is two Tennessee fans arguing on a UConn board. Crazy.

So, the first Tennessee fan said "Auburn is an unranked team that Tennessee should have beat easily, but like last year, couldn't handle the press. Tennessee is a team with NO discipline whatsoever and that is an issue holly has failed to address time and time again. "

The response from the homer Tennessee fans was "Auburn had only been given up 51 points. Tennessee put up 70 on them. "

Really? That is your comeback to the fact that Tennessee can't handle the press and has no discipline? Talk about moving the goalposts.

But lets just look at your comment. Why did Tennessee score 70 points on them? Well, they called a timeout with 14 seconds left in the game and then shot a three pointer with 7 seconds left in the game. Talk about pilling on. And they hit five free throws when Auburn intentionally fouled to try to get into the game. That's 8 points they scored in the last 50 seconds that wasn't due to their offense being so great.

Why does Auburn give up only 51 points per game? Well, maybe it's their crappy schedule?

Just look at the high RPI teams they have played. And Virginia Tech scored 72. Does that make their offense better than Tennessee.

Dumb. Just really dumb.

If a team is going to compete with Uconn, it makes sense that they need to have a good 1st quarter. For one thing, their legs are fresh and for another, the Huskies are not winning by 30+ points. An example would be Notre Dame. The score after one period was 22-18. That was the smallest margin of any game this season.  The Irish followed that with a great 2nd period, 25-14. In the end, it didn't matter, UConn won, but a strong start kept the game close. No other opponent has been able to get closer than 10 points at the end of the 1st period. 8-)

For the 12 games so far, UConn has outscored opponents 323-153 in the 1st period. That is an amazing 170 point gap, which translates to an average lead of 14.2 points. Beating the Huskies is hard enough without spotting them a 14 point lead. For many opponents, the game is essentially over after one period. For example, Maryland was down 32-11, Stanford was losing 26-10 and California was on the wrong end of a 30-11 score. In every game, UConn's conditioning and hustle only made the final margin worse. :D

Geno and the Huskies know every game is a marathon of 40 minutes of play. Opponents try to hang with UConn early, but any let up ends up being fatal. East Carolina was close in the first four minutes or so of their game at 8-5. Three minutes later the score was 18-5 and the game was over. Too much talent and too much hustle. After halftime, the pattern is repeated. UConn outscores opponents 276-166, another gap of 110 points. One would think the other team might have fresh legs from the break and come out strong. Some do, but not for long.  :o

Saturday should be another example of this cycle. USF has good talent, but not the conditioning of UConn. They will hang tough until the "spurt" puts them down 20+ points. Final margin may be closer to 30+.

Go Huskies..!!

P.S. Duke played last night. On the road. Against a real team. They lost. Now 0-4 on the road. Lowlights include a 9 point 3rd quarter, 50% shooting from free throw line and Lexie Brown going 2-12 from the field.
