Did any of you hear about the auditions to sing the National Anthem at the Hartford Yard Dog stadium this season? I know they had some highlights on the local NBC station and on a few Facebook pages for the Yard Goats and NBC new.

Well, your one and only DoggyDaddy auditioned for this once in a lifetime honor. This is definitely on my bucket list. You don't find out until the season starts so wish me luck!

Here is the Courant article on the auditions. Check out the first singer in the video!!!

SENIOR NIGHT!!!
I admit it. I get choked up every year. This senior night was no exception. I had the pleasure of meeting Tierney's mom and dad at one of last year's NCAA games in Bridgeport and they are so nice and so proud of their daughter. Geno had so many nice things to say about her in the post game interview. You don't have to be a star to be a fan favorite and she certainly has been one of mine for four years.

Saniya was asked after the game if she was glad she decided to stay after considering leaving UConn. The look on her face was priceless, like "what are you talking about?"....then she said she never thought about leaving. And aren't we fans lucky. She has had a great season.

Oh yeah, UConn won 91-48. In the game, Katie Lou pulled a few fans off the ledge with her great performance of 29 points on 11-14 shooting and 5-8 on threes. Collier was terrific again with 19 points and three blocks. And Williams filled the score sheet as well.

You can't say Tierney's teammates didn't try to get her some shots. Sadly she was 0-4 on her attempts all beyond the arc. Two were blocked by those mean opponents. BOOOO!!!! But she had a fantastic assists to Butler and dove for a ball on the floor. She is something else.

Chong was terrific again. She had 14 points and 7 assists in 30+ minutes and on her last possession on the court she was called for an offensive foul on an innocent wrap around arm robbing her of one last basket. Mean refs. BOOOO!!!!!

Crystal had a nice game Saturday. In her 29 minutes she had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists and only 2 turnovers. I thought she just looked more in the flow of the game and her TO's were on plays of aggression, something Geno never gets upset about.

Great game and good momentum before flying into Florida for the last regular season game against the Bulls.

No post game for this one. David has more info in his Numbers.

Congrats to Kelsey Plum in becoming the NCAA WCBB all-time leading scorer in Washington's 84-77 win over Utah.

Plum needed 55 points in this game so I figured it would happen in the next game. But she was on fire and took a ton of shots to score 57 points. An amazing performance by an amazing player.

Kelsey was 19-28 from the field, 6-11 on threes and 13-16 on foul shots. Wow. I bet her arm is tired!!!

I'm pretty sure she wrapped up POY. I know she would have my vote!

Friday night there were two more upsets in the top ten.

No. 6 Texas lost to unranked Iowa State for their third straight loss. This should push them out of the top ten in next weeks poll. Not a good loss.

No. 8 Stanford lost to No. 10 Oregon State. I'm not sure this should be considered an upset. Oregon State was at home and only had three losses coming into this game.

Parity!!!!

So what did we learn on Senior Night as UConn crushed Memphis..?

1. Katie Lou can still shoot. 5 for 8 from three point range, and 6-6 from closer in. Oh, and 2-2 from the charity stripe. 29 points in total.
2. Napheesa Collier actually misses some shots..!! She only made 9 of 13 for 19 points.
3. Senior Saniya Chong has become a very good point guard. 3-6 or 50% from three range, 14 points, 7 assists and 2 steals. Calm and poised the whole game.
4. Gabby is a Swiss Army knife of basketball. 10 rebounds, 8 points, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.
5. Tierney Lawlor is a tough and gritty player. Rebounds, a steal and 2 assists..!!
6. UConn had 27 assists, created 21 turnovers and shot 55.4% from the field. It is tournament time..!!

Go Huskies..!!
