Big news that impacts a couple of top teams for the 2017-18 season.

For the National Champions, South Carolina, Kaela Davis and Alisha Gray have both declared for the WNBA draft and won't be returning to the Gamecocks. Along with Alaina Coates, these are three HUGE losses for South Carolina. That's almost 50% of their rebounding, their only other double digit scorers other than A'ja Wilson and over 50% of their scoring, 40% of their assists.

This trio took 47% of the team's shots as well.

They do get a transfer from Kentucy, Alexis Jenning, a 6'2" forward that averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds for the Wildcats.

I'd guess that the losses will far outweigh the gains for South Carolina and they will need a superhuman effort by Wilson to return to the Final Four.

In the other big new, Maryland has three players looking to transfer, but the biggest one is Destiny Slocum, who was the WBCA national Freshman of the year and the next great player for the Terps. One of the other players transferring is Connecticut native Kia Gillespie. I remember her first couple of games where she had double digit scoring and some UConn fans proclaimed her better than Ktie Lou Samuelson. Yeah, right.....lol.

They also lose to graduation Brionna Jones and Shatari Walker-Kimbrough. 2017-18 is going to be a tough season for Maryland. I would expect Ohio State with the returning Kelsey Mitchell to win the regular season and Tournament Big Ten titles.
