1 Seed South Carolina
VS
2 Seed UConn
Straight from the Dog

I'm not big on complaining about the refs. Certain fans of certain teams constantly do that. If it's their team, they never foul, if it's the other team, they always foul. There is no middle ground.
However, some calls need to be brought out in the sunlight. The first one is the call on Edwards for an inbounding violation. That was a huge call as it cost UConn a possession late in the game that furned into a Stanford basket. I have watched countless hours of basketball. Men's, women's, NBA, WNBA. And I will tell you that was a BAD call. Westbrook threw the ball to Edwards who was not fully out of bounds when she received it. But she was headed out of bounds and I don't think I have seen a ref call that when the intent of the player receiving the ball was to get out of bounds before inbounding.
Now, I will admit, I can't find on the internet anything to validate what I am saying. But I can't find anything to say that was the right call either.
One other bad call was when a ball bounce off of a Stanford player and into Paige's arms. She had possetion as another Stanford player lost her balance and fell into Paige knocking her over. The Staanford player grabbed the ball and it was called a jump ball. How the hell that was not a foul? Terrible call.
There were others and both teams deserved better officiating.

UConn has now beaten No. 1 seed North Carolina State and No. 1 seed Stanford.
If they can beat No. 1 seed South Carolina, it will be the trifecta!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------
So much fun to read Volnation.con and see how upset those fans are that UConn beat Stanford.
This one poster kept referring to Edwards at "the girl with the LSU hair". Lol....it's LAKER hair, not LSU!!!!
It just cracked me up!

Bench usage
While Stanford played six off the bench, three of them got a minute apiece. A better metric is bench minutes. Stanford had 38 bench minutes while UConn had 57.
Stanford's Jones played all 40, as did Lacie Hull. Lexie Hull “only” recorded 37 mostly because she had to come out for a bloody nose.
The game was incredibly even through three quarters, UConn had a tiny 2 point lead as the 4th quarter started.
I believe tough defense is more wearing than offense. While I don’t pretend for a second that Stanford was running ragged in the final quarter, a little fatigue will take a few percent off ones performance, and we opened up a small lead on plays like Paige’s steal that might have turned out differently if their main players had a little rest.
The game got a little close at the end, but the pace slowed only because it was foul time. The mental anguish for fans stayed ramped up, but the tired Stanford player got a little bit of a breather.
I’m crediting our expansion of the lead from 2 points to 8 points to slightly fresher legs for UConn (plus I always credit Amanda Kimble for having UConn players in great physical shape.)
Conference results are virtually final
What do the Big East, Summit, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12 conferences have in common? Answer, all have a better winning percentage in the NCAA Tournament than the SEC.
Someone is surely thing, “Sure, you are posting this before Sunday’s game which could change everything”.
Nope. No matter who wins on Sunday, the Big East will have the best winning percentage of any conference, and the SEC will still be behind those five conferences.
I have little doubt that if South Carolina prevails on Sunday, that some fans of SEC teams will crow about the strength of the SEC, but they will be wrong. That ship has sailed. Sunday will be about two teams, and which individual team wins the honors. The competition to see which conference deserves bragging rights is settled, in the bank.
On Monday, the order of the conferences by NCAA winning percentage will be:
1. Big East
2. Summit
3. Big Ten
4. ACC
5. Big 12
6. SEC
Then six conferences (including the Pac 12) tied for seventh at .500.

For the 2nd game in a row, the Huskies about gave everyone a heart attack..!! But, the good guys prevailed with guts and effort & the stats prove it.
Consider:
Consider:
1. Nika Muhl out rebounds Stanford's center, Cameron Brink 8-7.
2. Geno uses the bench for 57 minutes while Stanford uses their 3 best players for 40, 40 and 37 minutes.
3. UConn out rebounds the taller Cardinal 46-37.
4. Free throw shooting for the night was 16-20, including ket shots down the stretch.
5. UConn spread the scoring out with players hitting 14, 12, 10, 9 and two with 8 points.
6. Defense holds Sanford to 4-23 shooting from deep.
7. The UConn bench scores 14 points and grabs 14 rebounds.
8. Jones for Stanford score 20, but needs 21 shots and 5 free throws to get there.
On to the Final..!!
Go Huskies..!!
