Yesterday's blog was supposed to be my last for a few days, but David sent me another "Numbers" and I had to put it somewhere!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and that there were plenty of wonderful gifts for all you UConn fans!!!

I'm pretty sure that the UConn team is a special gift for all of us this season. The team has been fun to watch and the best is yet to come!

Enjoy David's Numbers and I've added a few of my own!! And I did find a few links to post.

Later!!!

Doggy's Digits!!!

So, here we are 10 games into the season and a long break coming up. It's a good time to look at how this team compares to past teams. We all love a great offense, so I will start there.

Right now, UConn has some impressive offensive numbers. So where do they rank all time in UConn history if the season ended today?

Scoring average - 89.4. This would be ranked 2nd all time with only the 98-99 more at 91.2.
FG percentage - 52.5.  This would be ranked 5th all time with the 14-15 team leading at 54.0.

3PT percentage - 41.7. This would be ranked 3rd all time with the 88-89 team leading at 46.3.
Scoring Margin - 28.7. This would be ranked 15th all time with the 14-15 team leading at 40.6.
Assists - 227. On pace for 863. This would be tied for 1st all time with last years team.

The thing to remember is that UConn still has to go through the AAC Conference schedule and the early rounds of the NCAA tournament. If it's anything like last season, UConn's numbers will be historic.

Individually, UConn has some historic levels with three players shooting over 50% on threes. Sue Bird had the highest percentage of 49.7. Time will tell. It's a tough number to maintain.

Now, defensively? So far, not historic. In fact, UConn is not in the top listed in the top 20 for Defensive FG percentage and the 60 PPG against is not even close to UConn standards. But again, the weak AAC schedule should help with that. But they won't come close to historic numbers.

Any way you look at it, this is a FUN team to watch!!!

By David in Naples!!!!!

The last two seasons, UConn had four players average in double figures for scoring. This year, the Huskies have six in double figures for points per game.

1. Katie Lou  20.5 ppg  (6 games)
2. Kia             16.4 ppg
3. Pheesa      15.2 ppg
4. Azura        14.6 ppg
5. Crystal      12.6 ppg
6. Gabby       10.1 ppg

Needless to say, this creates sleepless nights for opponents trying to figure out how to stop the Huskies. Three of the six are deadly 3 pt shooters, two of the six are awesome inside scorers and the sixth, Gabby is a matchup nightmare. All are fast, multi-dimensional and unselfish. Certainly, a deadly combination. Any of the six can (and has) led the team in scoring for several games. Here are the two high scoring games for each player.

1. Katie Lou   40 points & 34 points
2. Kia              33 points & 29 points
3. Pheesa       39 points & 31 points
4. Azura         25 points & 18 points
5. Crystal       24 points & 19 points
6. Gabby        26 points & 21 points

The team averages 89.4 points per game through 10 games. However, the easier part of the schedule lies ahead. Hopefully, UConn can add to that total and raise the average. Even if it stayed at 89.4 ppg, that would be a record compared to the last five years, barely beating out Stewie and MoJeff's junior year of 89.3 ppg.

Go Huskies..!!
