Two overtime games in the Top 25 and both times the ranked team was able to pull it out.

No. 2 Notre Dame was able to pull away in OT to win 91-85. Westbeld had a huge play when with 40 second left in the fourth quarter she was at the foul line with ND down three. She made the first free throw and missed the second. She grabbed the offensive rebound and put the ball in the basket to tie the game. ND was only 4-22 on threes for the game and 17-28 on free throws. Marquette is not that good a team. I think ND will loss a few unexpected games in the ACC.

No. 22 South Florida was able to pull one out against a game Dayton team 93-87 behind 29 points from the always dangerous Kitija Laksa. I'm not sure how long South Florida will be able to hang in the top 25.

Boy, reading the UConn message board, you would have thought that UConn lost the game to Oklahoma, have lost a few games already and just don't work as hard as other teams.

What is wrong with those people?

UConn beat Oklahoma last night, for Geno's 1,000th victory, with balanced scoring and incredible defense. As has been the case all year, the Huskies scored inside and out with Napheesa hitting for 21, Azura netting 20, Katie Lou adding 19 and Kia scoring 17. Five different Huskies hit three-point baskets and UConn finished with 53% overall accuracy from the field. Inside the arc, the team was 23-38 or 60%. Together, Z and Pheesa were 15-19 or 79% in close. They each also added a three.

While UConn struggled to score at times in the game, the defense was steady throughout. Oklahoma's Maddie Manning couldn't miss in the 1st half and scored 15 points. In the 2nd half, she scored 0 points. Shut down defense. Gabby Ortiz, from the Sooners, was held to 9 points in 9 shots until the last three seconds of the game. Oklahoma needed at least 15 threes to stay with the Huskies. They got only 7 in 20 tries.

The Husky defense forced 16 turnovers, grabbed 34 defensive rebounds and kept the Sooners to 7 threes and 7 free throws. Kia and Crystal were particularly effective against Ortiz, the leading scorer.

A solid win against a fired-up Oklahoma squad and Geno (and CD) get the 1,000 win..!!
