Overview
Duquesne is having a good year so far coming in at 10-2 on the season. They lost their opener to Charlotte 75-72 before beating Winthrop 81-54 and Pittsburgh 66-53 before losing their second game of the season to East Tennessee State 81-77. Since that loss they have won eight games in a row. Iona, North Carolina A&T, Virginia, St. Francis (PA), Central Connecticut, Toledo, Akron and Central Michigan. Their big win in that group was Virginia who the Dukes beat 74-63. Otherwise they haven't really played much competition.
After a long layoff, UConn handily beat Oklahoma 88-64. Before the break UConn had come off maybe their best performance of the season against DePaul winning 103-69. Before that they had an amazing comeback victory over Notre Dame winning 80-71.

Oklahoma Sooners
Duquesne Head Coach
Dan Burt
Dan Burt was named head coach of the Duquesne women's basketball program on April 27, 2013. In his four seasons, he has had unprecedented success in both the Atlantic 10 Conference as well as nationally. For the seventh straight season, Duquesne won 20-or-more games (just one of 18 teams in NCAA Division I that has won 20-or-more games each year since the 2009 season).
A key component in Burt's coaching philosophy is player development. In his time at Duquesne, 12 of Burt's players have gone on to play professionally overseas.

Game Analysis
Another homecoming game for a UConn senior. Kia should have plenty of friends and family at the game. I'm sure she is a little nervous. But don't expect that to impact her game. She is one tough cookie.
UConn should be comfortable playing Duquesne as they are similar to South Florida in regards to where they get their players. The Dukes have X number of players from overseas on their roster. They have players from Canada, Hungary (2), Serbia, Finland, Estonia and Spain. So the many games the last several years against USF should prepare them for the European style of basketball. What is that you ask? Good passing and movement without the ball and opportune three point shooting.
Plenty of foreign players but the leader on this team is their 5'4" point guard Chassidy Omorossa from Beavers Fall Pa. You will enjoy watching her play. She is quick and smart and shoots 41% on threes. She's been playing a ton of minutes so far this year but UConn is a different animal. Their leading scorer is Julijana Vojinovic, a 5'10" shooting guard from Serbia. She is a terrific three point shooter at 46% and she takes about 8 per game. She will remind you of Laksa from USF. They have three posts players, 6'3" Kadri-Ann Lass from Estonia. She does a nice job defending the post and has 32 blocks. The best post rebounder is another European, 6'2" Eniko Kotter. She is not a big post but plays solid positional rebounding averaging 9 per game in only 18 minutes.
I've only watched a few highlights of the team, so I'm certainly not an expert. But I can tell you they like to set up the open three on offense in a variety of ways. They will screen, shoot off the break and mostly drive and kick. The question will be how effective will they be against a team that plays defense like UConn.
The other big question is how will they defense the multi-faceted offense that UConn has. They will struggle against UConn's size and quickness. There just are some terrible matchups for the Dukes. I'll just name two. Kati Lou Samuelson and Azura Stevens. They just don't have anyone to guard them.
UConn will pressure Duquesne all over the court and risk the Dukes getting open threes when they break it. But with the Huskies quickness and length, it will be tough going for Duquesne. On offense UConn will work the ball inside/out and sometimes back in again for open looks.
Final Prediction
I've been off the last couple of games in my predictions. But I think I have a handle on this one. It will be a long night for the Dukes as UConn overpowers them in the paint. I would guess they outrebound them by 15. Also, the two guards Ornograsso and Vojinovic comprise around 50% of the scoring and assists. UConn will defend the heck out of these two players. All this leads to a big win for the Huskies with more playing time for the bench.
Holding on to my last prediction against Oklahoma.
UConn by 40+.
