OK.....I can breath again! What an amazing comeback by an amazing team. Think about it. With 10 minutes remaining in the game, they were down 11, 65-54, after a three pointer from the corner by ND's Lili Thompson. Katie Lou Samuelson had just left the game for good after tweaking her ankle and UConn had to go with only 5 players the rest of the way. Gabby Williams didn't play a minute in the second half. How confident were you about the Huskies coming back?
All I can say is that was the best comeback by a UConn women's team I've seen in a long time and maybe the best ever based on the situations I mentioned and the opponent.
UConn outscored the Irish 26-6 to finish the game behind a terrific effort by all five players on the court. Kia Nurse started the rally with a three pointer to answer Thompson's three, Dangerfield made a couple of great passes and a beautiful putback floater off the backboard, Collier had several hustle rebounds and the freshman Walker had some HUGE rebounds and some needed points from the line.
Finally, Azura Stevens played like an AA and dominated the paint. She scored at will, rebounded with a vengeance and defended the paint, forcing bad shots by the Irish.
Several folks might be wondering what happened to Gabby. Word is she was suffering again from migraines all week and when you looked at her pained expression on the bench, you could tell something was wrong. This will probably be something UConn will have to deal with all season.
Here is my UConn/Notre Dame Post Game Report.

I know I had my doubts, although I wasn't dumb enough publically declare it for everyone to see. Here are a couple of beauties -
"Take Samuelson out at this point. No sense in her risking future injury in a game UConn has no chance of winning."

After UConn's big win I asked Logan to give the Huskies a BIG HAND

"No question that ND is the better team, not only tonight, but at this point in the season. Geno will has a feast to pick on from here on to the Dance. Defensive rebounding, pick and roll responsibilities, pace in the offensive zone, covering the perimeter, TO's, lack of urgency, working harder to get open. The list goes on and on. Good for ND. They came to play without excuses and they gave it to UConn good."
I didn't go into the game thread where posters give there opinions real time. I can only imagine the doom and gloom comments.

By David in Naples!!!!!
For the first time this season UConn outplayed their opponent in the 4th quarter. What a great time to do that..!! The victory over Notre Dame was keyed by a 26-9 scoring margin in the final period. And, all this happened with Katie Lou & Gabby on the bench.
The Huskies started the 4th quarter down by 8 and soon fell behind by 11 points. UConn came back to lead with baskets by Megan Walker, Kia Nurse, Crystal and Azura Stevens. No hoops by KLS, Gabby or Pheesa and the Huskies still stormed back over the Irish. Collier did add 4 clutch free throws with the clock running out.
Notre Dame’s leading scorers went cold as Ogunbowale finished 1-10 from three and Mad Dog Mabrey missed her final 5 shots. UConn once again had five players scoring in double figures for w/ balanced points (18, 17, 15, 13 and 12).
Next game is Friday at DePaul.
Go Huskies..!!
