Tennessee's OT win over Marquette took a hit Saturday when the Golden Eagles went down to perennial Mid-Major contender Green Bay 63-55. It doesn't say much for the Lady Vol's defense as they gave up 89 points in regulation.
Two more cupcakes and Tennessee will finally play a tough team in No. 2 Texas. Can't wait.
And while I'm hammering at Tennessee, it's just sad how far this program has dropped. Besides their final four drought, their one time WCBB leading attendance figures have dropped precipitously.
Here are their
Central Arkansas - 7311
Wichita State - 7818
James Madison - 7553
East Tennessee State - 8869
That's an average of 7887. I'm not sure the next two games against Alabama State (RPI 209) and Troy (RPI 106) I'm not sure they will get much more, if that. Texas should bring a great crowd of over 10K. At least that is what you would think.
Here is the numbers for the last 6 years. It's not a good trend.
2016-17 - 9184
2015-16 - 10412
2014-15 - 10375
2013-14 - 11038
2012-13 - 11390
2011-12 - 14414

Here is my UConn/Notre Dame Pre Game Report.
“They’re a great team. This is probably as good a team as they’ve had, and they’ve had a lot of good teams. They just have so many weapons. You can’t lay off anybody. I think everybody you play, no matter how good they are, there’s always one person you can maybe double off of or not worry as much about, but this team has five people that can score the ball pretty much every possession. They play hard, they play well, they play great defensively. … It’s a chance to measure ourselves against the best team in the nation.” — Muffet McGraw.
Yeah, I like my 18+ point spread.

South Florida, the only other AAC ranked team at No. 17, beat George Washington 83-78. Beating the Colonials by only 5 points doesn't bode well for when UConn plays them later in the season. The Bulls have two great players in Laksa and Jespersen, who scored 27 points and 25 points respectively. Last season, UConn destroyed 102-37, 96-68 and 100-44. Whew.
More to come in my Pre Game report later in the season.
New UConn Hat
Hopefully a new good luck charm for UConn games!

By David in Naples!!!!!
Geno Auriemma has coached for 33 years at UConn and run the Huskies for 1,132 games. He has 997 victories and very few teams have a winning record against him. Michigan State, an opponent last week, had a 1-1 record against Geno led teams. Now they are 1-2. Candidly, most of the losses came early in his career when the program was building. Almost no team the Huskies have played lately has even close to a winning record. For example, USF is 0-23 and Cincinnati is 0-16. In fact, Geno is undefeated in the AAC at 70-0 for the regular season.
The only team Geno's Huskies have never defeated is La Salle. Auriemma is 0-3 and not scheduled to play them in the near future. New Hampshire can boast a 1-1 record versus UConn, as can Ball State. No doubt Geno's squad would beat them mercilessly now. Other teams with at least respectable records include North Carolina at 4-7, Baylor at 2-4, and Stanford at 7-11. Arch rival Tennessee is 9-13.
Even mightly Notre Dame has a poor record versus Geno. They are 11-34 and winless since Stewie was a freshman. Several other teams have double-digit victories over Geno, but also quite a few defeats. Villanova is 11-36, while Providence is 10-39. The teams Geno has pounded the most are Pittsburgh (4-41), Rutgers (6-34), Syracuse (6-38) and Seton Hall (2-46). Many of those wins were in the days of the old Big East. Finally, the last team to beat Geno, Mississippi State is 1-3, with that semi final game as their only win.
Go Huskies..!!
