GO UCONN!!!!!
**************************************************
Well, heading to Florida Sunday night. I hope to hook up to the wifi and finish up this blog. I'm only there for a few days. I leave Thursday morning and get home in time for a nice Thanksgiving dinner at my daughters house.
It will be a fun few days. I get to see my son, his wife and my beautiful granddaughters.
Then on Monday, we drive to Tampa and go to the Tampa Bay/Giants game for a Monday night NFL football game.
We stay over and come home Tuesday. A round of golf on Wednesday and
then more family time.
I'll find a way to watch the UConn game on Monday on the drive to Tampa.
GO HUSKIES! and GO GIANTS!!!

YES!! Got the FLYFI working!!!
It will be a brief blog but better than nothing.
It's so great to see my Florida family.

Did I say a 40 point win? Really? Oh well, my prediction was as bad as UConn's offense for much of this game. Geno said this was Jose's best team. I wish he told me before the game!
As you probably know, I am not big on negative thoughts. Although this game was a tough one to stay positive about. Let me get any negative things out of the way first.
UConn was outrebounded. Not good. They are a much bigger team and that shouldn't happen. Now, I didn't watch the game to see how that happened. I can't say whether it was effort or just balls that bounced USF's way. Doesn't matter. They have to do better.
It looks like they were a little sloppy with the ball. Paige had 3 turnovers after having no turnovers in the first two game. And Williams had 5 turnovers. She really had a down game after having a career game against Minnesota.
Ok...enough about the bad. Both of those items are correctable. Hopefully before playing their next game.
What was good in this game?
Paige still had a good game in spite of the 3 turnovers. 21 points and 7 assists. If she averaged that all season we would all be happy.
Olivia is not being very aggressive on offense. They need to get her more shots. But she had 7 assists, doing her job as a point forward.
Last but not least, it was a coming out party for Azzi Fudd. UConn doesn't win this game without her contributions. She scored 18 points all coming on three point shots. She really adds another dimension to this team.
What I like is every game a different player was the difference maker. Paige in the first game, Williams in the second game and Fudd in this game. It really is great when you don't have to rely on one player.

GAME QUOTES
Azzi Fudd - “Coach has been telling me to shoot, and every game so far I’ve been overthinking. So today my goal was to not overthink, when I get the ball, my defenders hands aren’t right in my face, and to shoot.”
Geno - “If God ever gave anybody a better shooting stroke in the world, I don’t know who it is,”
Geno on Bueckers and Fudd - “They think being a great teammate is not taking too many shots. And I think being a great teammate is shooting every time you’re open when you’re a great shooter. For young kids, I think it’s somewhat natural at times, to not want to put yourself in that situation. Not everybody’s Maya [Moore]. Some kids just take a little bit longer to see it.
Geno - “I wish Fudd had some of Paige’s just kind of play brainless, just kind of play and not worry about the outcome so much mentality, and I wish Paige had a little bit of Azzi’s discipline. But that’s why they’re so good together. They really complement each other really well.”
Geno - “Her teammates all know it’s going in the minute it leaves her hands. The only person that really has any idea how to keep Azzi from getting as many shots off as she wants is her. If she decides, like today, ‘This is what I’m going to do,’ it happens.”
Geno - “If we wanted to play teams where we never got challenged, we never got smacked, we never had to come back, find out a little bit of ourselves doing a timeout, then there’s no point in being here. So we got exactly what we wanted that game, exactly what we needed. This is Jose’s best team since he’s been at South Florida. They’re going to win a lot of games. ... That’s a better win than people are going to give it credit for. I was really proud of our guys, especially the way we came out of the timeout after they took the lead.”
Bueckers - “For us to battle back and not lay down and sort of take a hit and then throw one back was huge for us. When anybody has a game where they go 6-for-9 from 3, they’re going to gain a lot of confidence. I told her before the game, ‘I want you to shoot 20 3s this game.’ It’s just me being in her ear, our teammates being in her ear, giving her confidence and just reassuring her that we need her to shoot, we want her to shoot and tell her to stop overthinking, just shoot.”
Geno - “She’s a freshman. This is only our third game and then I keep reminding myself, this is probably the worst you’re ever going to see Azzi. So what’s that say? She’s got chance to be a pretty special player.”
Well, it's the matchup we thought would happen. We all know about South Carolina. We all know about UConn. I don't have much to say other than UConn will win.

Game Analysis
The starters for both teams are the same. For the regular rotation, UConn adds Fudd and Juhasz and South Carolina adds Caroso.
I can see this game playing out a lot like last year's matchup. A close game throughout with both teams going on runs to counter the other.
I'll just leave it at that. I'm sure that most of you that are reading this remember last years game.
Final Prediction
I just feel that after a tough outing in Sunday's game, UConn will be ready for the Gamecocks. Paige is still the best player on the court and if the Fudd we saw against USF appears against South Carolina, I like UConn's chances. This is also a chance for UConn's big players, Nelson-Ododa, Edwards and Juhasz to show that they can play with the better bigs on South Carolina like Boston, Caroso, Saxton and Amihere.
Bueckers is the difference again.
UConn by 5+.

DING DING DING, we have a winner.
No. 22 West Virginia put a real hurtin' on poor little Radford. They beat the Highlanders 83-31.
The stats for Radford? Ugh.
They scored 31 points. They shot 25% from the field, 2-14 on threes, 7-12 on free throws, and the kicker?
32 Turnovers!
This is a contender for UGGY of the year, but in the meantime, they can revel in winning the UGGY of the day! Congrats!!

Apparently, UConn got the "Shot blocking Bueckers"...!! Including the Ft. Hays exhibition, Paige has 6 blocks in 3 games. That leads the Huskies...
Caroline Ducharme has 3 blocks, if you include Ft. Hays.. Liv has 4 blocks, all in regular season games...
Another amazing Paige stat is her assist to turnover ratio. With 12 assists in the last two games, and 0 turnovers, her a/to ratio is off the charts..!
Go Huskies..!!

Stats - part 2
Update - Paige w/ another block today. Liv and Azzi join the block party w/ 1 each.
Strange stat of the day - Only 10 free throws combined w/ both teams.
