"I went to the game Saturday night and was unimpressed..."

David posted this quote from someone on a message board and I felt I had to share this with all of you.

Yes, someone really felt this way about UConn's win against Vanderbilt on Saturday. This is so dumb on so many levels. David put it best when he said:

"Quite a sad situation. I guess Pheesa getting a double-double before halftime was unimpressive. I guess Crystal making 5-7 three point shots was unimpressive. I guess Megan Walker hitting 7-8 shots from inside the arc doesn't impress this guy. Three steals and three assists by freshman Christyn Williams...?  Not impressed. Thirteen point lead after 1st period, then 23 point lead at the half. Boring..

The defense held Vanderbilt to 21 points in the first 20 minutes of play. Still not impressed? How about 25% shooting for the game? No..?  What about the free throw defense. UConn held Vandy to 50% free throw shooting (4-8). That's impressive as heck...

My advice, don't go to any more games. It will only get less impressive... "

As others have said, it's the second friggin' game of the season. You are expecting perfection? Hey, there are three new players in the rotation in the two freshmen Williams and Nelson-Ododa and the sophomore Coombs. It takes time to play with consistency. Sheesh!!!!

Let's look at last years first game. More from David - "Last season, UConn played California in the 2nd game. Interestingly, it was also not a masterpiece. Katie Lou went 0-4 from three-point range, Megan was 1-9 (11%) and Cal outrebounded the Huskies 36-34. UConn also had 14 turnovers and missed 10 of 11 threes in the 2nd half."
Sigh......It's just not fair to these wonderful kids playing so hard and getting so much disrespect. First the bench bashing and now this.

By David in Naples!!!!!

As the Huskies head to the Virgin Islands for three games starting Thursday, here is a scoring update for Katie Lou and Napheesa.

12. Svet Abrosimova  1,865 points
13. Tiff Hayes   1,801 points
14. Katie Lou  1,746 points
15. Stef Dolson  1,709 points
16. Ann Strother 1,699 points
17. Shea Ralph  1,678 points
18. Kia Nurse   1,674 points
19. Napheesa  1,641 points

So, Lou is 55 points behind Tiff Hayes and 119 short of Svetlana. She could pass Tiff in the Virgin Island tournament. Pheesa is 33 behind Kia, 37 short of Shea and only 58 away from Ann Strother. She needs to average just over 18 points per game to reach 16th place. Probably a stretch given the 3 games in 3 nights format, but Kia and Shea are within reach. Look for Geno to substitute liberally as rest will be needed... :P

Go Huskies..!!

  1. The girls are not professional players. They all have academic obligations plus other team and school obligations. If you cannot enjoy what they accomplish with a win or loss perhaps its time for you to move on from college athletics. Myself and most of their fans enjoy their hard work.
