UConn starts their 3 game tournament at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands Thanksgiving night. The first game is against the SEC's Ole Miss. The Rebels are 3-1 this season with wins against Norfolk State, Temple and Western Kentucky and a loss against IUPUI. Now, I'm sure you are wondering what IUPUI stand for? I know I did and had to look it up. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Yeah, I know, not exactly a powerhouse women's program.

Old Miss is led by their only double digit scorer in 5'9" transfer senior from UT Arlington Crystal Allen, who is averaging 18 ppg. She is the only real three point threat at 36%. She gets to the foul line with her quickness and is shooting over 80% from the line.

Their leading rebounder is La'Karis Salter, who grabs 7.5 rpg. The 6'1" transfer from Florida A&M. She is a load in the paint. Tough to move. She doesn't start but gets around 20 mpg.

I really don't have much more to say about this team. They are a lower level SEC team with not much offense (no surprise there) and a rugged defense. UConn will have to be on the look out for their physical play.

I expect UConn to run Ole Miss right out of the gym and to do it early. Geno gets the 3 games in 3 days thing and will keep the starters minutes down and spread the play up and down the lineup.

Katie Lou will not go 0-5 on threes, and Collier should get another double double. An easy with for the Huskies. 35+.

One game of interest on Thursday is No. 17 South Florida from the AAC and Kentucky from the SEC. Without Laksa, their leading scorer, who tore her ACL and is out for the season, the Bulls will have a big test with the undefeated Wildcats. Is Kentucky a real tiger or a paper one? We shall see in this game.

No. 11 Tennessee is playing an away game, their first of the season, against ACC team Clemson. It will be their first game against a power-5 team. Their first 3 games were against the weak of the weak. Now, Clemson is not a good team and I expect a 20 point Tennessee team. Anything less exposes Tennessee.

Yeah, I have egg on my face. I was sure Aliya Boston was coming to UConn. Instead she picked Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks. It's a blow to UConn but I'm always ready to root for whoever has that UConn jersey on. Geno will get other players. The 2020 class is loaded.

There are a few kind of fans in reacting to this kind of news.

Some folks will want to jump off a cliff after this news. Go in total panic mode. It's kinda comical to watch it happen on the message boards. Poster after poster going crazy. A few examples.

"UCONN will lose out on jones!! Watch jones sign with the gamecocks!!! UCONN future is over!!! Sadly genos recruiting style needs to change!!! Put all marbles into one bag.. no back up plan. If we lose out on jones then UCONN will be done a roster of 10... say juco or walk ons. UCONN dominance and dynasty is over. Sad day"

"Jones is not coming to UCONN!!! Accept it now!!!!!! Geno made a big mistake!! Being to dam selective!!!! No back up plan!! Jones to South Carolina Stanford or Oregon!!! UCONN is done!!! Hate to be negative but if Geno lost a recruit who basically sat behind uconns bench the past 2 years and she goes to USC come on people .. writing is on the wall UCONN is over. I see Geno coaching no more then 4 years. Kids don’t want to play for demanding coaches and programs and people are sick of uconns dominance and sadly all good things come to a end."

"If u want to compete for national titles yes u need to change!!! 10 player roster next year with a starting 5 of who? Really people come on.. one post player?? Olivia ... people need to face reality .. UCONN is one injury away this season for disaster next year just forget it... Haley Jones is 100% not going to UCONN!!! South Carolina or Stanford!! My guess South Carolina will land jones!!!!"

"Where are all the posters that GUARANTEED Boston? She was a "lock". "can't miss", "100% going to UConn", "writing is on the wall", "Geno would have recruited somebody else", etc? UConn will NOT get a single player of Horston, Boston, Jones, Bueckers, or Fudd. just like I predicted. Just got the school wrong. Most kids do NOT want to play for a disciplinarian head coach like Auriemma these days!"

Yeah, these folks are crazy, huh.

Even the message board monitor had to admonish these idiots -

"There are a couple of people using this thread to vent. They're posting too much. We've given a few gentle hints, so by now they know who they are. Please give others a chance to reflect and post what they think about this if they wish. We'd prefer a few emotional types didn't overwhelm the thread with their fears, frustrations and/or lamentations."

UConn is not going anywhere.

It's possible that UConn will see a small downturn for a season. Maybe. But I'm more of a "live for the moment" kinda guy so lets enjoy this team for what it is.
