I linked a nice article in the Courant about our only 2019 recruit Aubrey Griffin. She is going to be terrific and as soon as her freshman year. Enjoy the Videos.

From David!

The number 11 keeps showing up in UConn's statistics, so far this season. For example, Christyn leads the team with 11 steals. And, Olivia has 11 offensive rebounds. Even the regular season started on 11-11. (November 11th for you Duke grads) Even bad things happen in 11s. Megan has 11 turnovers and Crystal has 11 personal fouls. Napheesa has taken 11 three-point shots and not made many... Including exhibition games, the Huskies have played 11 games. And, won them all. By far, the queen of 11 is Olivia. In addition to the 11 offensive rebounds, she has 11 blocked shots, 11 turnovers and has played 118 minutes. I mention this because after Oklahoma, and these 11s will go away... ;)

P.S. - Geno's record against Oklahoma is 11-0....  of course... :D

Most fans of college women's basketball know UConn and Geno Auriemma have won many National Championships. Some even know the number is 11 and counting. Probably only fans of the Huskies know his record in the Final game is 11-0. When UConn has made the Final, they have won every time. How hard is that to do? Well, Notre Lame has been in 6 Finals and won only 2. They lost twice to UConn, once to Baylor and once to Texas A&M. :D

Nobody has made more Finals, only to lose, than Tennessee. They have lost 5 times in the Finals. Full disclosure, they also won 8 times, with the last National Championship in 2008. Still, in 4 of the 5 loses, it was Geno and UConn that knocked them out. How sweet is that..! Stanford has a record of 2-2 in Finals games. But, they have lost 9 times in the Semi-final. That is the most of any school.

Here is a list of teams and how many NC's they have won.
UConn - 11
Tennessee - 8
Notre Lame - 2
Louisiana Tech - 2
Baylor - 2
Stanford - 2
USC - 2  (the one in California)
South Carolina, Maryland, North Carolina, Old Dominion, Texas,
Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Purdue all with 1.

Geno's first title was in 1995 and his most recent was 2016. In between, he won 9 other National Championships. Stanford last won in 1992. Prior to last season, Notre Lame had not won since 2001. Texas A&M won in 2011, but have not made the Final Four since. Purdue and Duke were the Finals teams in 1999. Purdue won, but has been back in the Final Four since. Duke lost both trips to the Final and never won a title.

Getting to the Final Four is hard. Geno's been to 11 straight. Winning the Semi-final game is also hard. (Just ask Stanford) Winning the Final is even more difficult. Which makes Geno's 11-0 record quite an achievement.

Go Huskies..!!
