Guess where we were Friday Night!!!!

UConn takes on California next and their star player 6'4" Senior Kristine Anigwe. She is a GREAT player and a load to handle in the paint. Here is my Pre Game Report.

There were a bunch of Top 25 games Friday night, but not many that were interesting.

No. 8 Stanford, fresh off of a couple of huge wins in Baylor and Tennessee struggled to beat an unranked Buffalo team on the road. winning 62-55. Alaina Smith scored 30 points in another terrific effort. She is similar to Katie Lou in skill set with a great three point shot and can play inside as well. Stanford only had 5 players score in the game.

No. 7 Oregon hammered UC Irvine 115-69 behind the 14th triple double of Sabrina Ionescu's career. She is something else. Ruthie Hebard had an excellent game with 23 points and 15 rebounds. I still like the Ducks as a final four team.

Plenty of links in the Top 25 section.

Can we all please stop saying the UConn defense played poorly against Oklahoma. The Sooners scored 63 points on 40% shooting. Well, UConn scored 72 points on 40% shooting. How can Oklahoma's 40% be great while the Huskies 40% sucks? They're both 40%..!  Consider:

1. Oklahoma scored 21 points in the 1st period. Then 16, 15 and 11 in the next three periods. Do you see the pattern? Good defense and conditioning does that.

2. Taylor Robertson from Oklahoma is a very good three-point shooter. In the 2nd half, she had only two baskets and a free throw. Again, defense adjusting and winning.

3. Oklahoma shot 27.3% from three-point range. Only Robertson made a three. The others were 0-10. Good defense.

4. Oklahoma had 15 turnovers, only 11 assists and were outrebounded 46-36.

5. UConn blocked 4 shots and held Oklahoma to 1 point in the last 5 minutes of the game. Good defense and great conditioning.

Collier, Samuelson and Dangerfield all played 40 minutes against Oklahoma. Yet, they dominated at the end of the game both on offense and defense. Oklahoma came out hot at the beginning and UConn adjusted their defense to win the game. It was a clinic on how to win when things are not going your way.

Go Huskies..!!
