Guess who is not NUMBER 1 in three point shooting percentage in all of women's college basketball?

Paige is shooting an incredible 58.33%. She is 28 for 48 from beyond the arc. That is beyond amazing!

For the season she is not averaging 19.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 6 APG. She has 72 assists and only 30 turnovers. She had 17 turnovers in her first 4 games and only 13 turnovers in her last 8 games. In her last 3 games she is averaging 27 points and 7 assists.

Wow!!! Incredibly, she is getting better and better. Twelve games into her college career and here is what is amazing to me. I watched many many hours of her high school game and USA games. She was terrific. And you figure she would be great in college.....eventually. But to see her come in and play like she is? It's blowing my mind.

My guess at the beginning of the season is she would be an AA. Maybe honorable mention. Third team? But she is leaving no doubt that she is maybe the best point guard in the country RIGHT NOW. A FIRST team All-American. I don't see how anyone who has a vote doesn't have her in the top 5.

Hey UConn fans, it's only just started. Hopefully a bunch of games this season and then 3-4 more seasons.

How friggin' good can she possibly get?

Creighton women's basketball's bad luck with scheduling disruptions continued this week. Its Saturday home game against Villanova has been postponed. The Big East announced the decision Thursday as a result of positive COVID-19 test results in the Wildcats' program. Villanova has entered a program-wide pause.

Lots of great plays in last night's victory over St. John's. Here are just a few deep thoughts...  8-)

1. Paige is better than we thought. Way better...
2. The Nika Muhl bashers "over yonder" are eating cold crow. Nika is 8-17 from 3 pt range in the last 4 games. That is 47% you haters..!
3. Leilani Correa is a great shooter... but, she had 6 points at the half and scored 3/4ths of her points with UConn well ahead. Plus, she had only 2 assists.
4. Five freshman on the court at the same time is genius by Geno. What other coach would ever try that...??
5. Olivia runs the court well, but Aaliyah runs it even better. Fast bigs are a tremendous advantage in the tourny.
6. St. John's shot 50% from the field (22-44). But, UConn took 65 shots and made 35. Hence the big win.
7. St John's had 27 turnovers, the Huskies had 27 assists.
8. Unique Drake for St. J's had a unique stat. 0 assists with 9 turnovers.

Go Huskies..!!

No. 1 Louisville 97 Boston College 68 - Louisville bounced back from their only loss of the season to smack around Boston College. The Cardinals started a little slowly and only led by 4 points after the first quarter. They poured it on in the second quarter behind Dana Evans. Slowly but surely Louisville kept expanding the lead and the Eagles had no answer for the Cardinals. Taylor Soule did her best to keep BC in the game but the Eagles were totally outplayed in the second half. Evans ended up with 25 points to lead Louisville. Hailey Van Lith added 15 points for the Cardinals. Soule ended up with 20 points to lead the Eagles.

No. 2 South Carolina 77 Auburn 58 - Zia Cooke came out firing for South Carolin, hitting 3 three pointers in the first quarter and then 17 points in the first half to help push the Gamecocks to the win over Auburn. South Carolina led by 26-6 after one quarter and 46-18 at the half. Dawn then substituted freely and the Gamecocks game went downhill in the second half will Auburn kept plugging away. The Tigers outscored South Carolina 21-18 in the third quarter and 19-12 in the fourth quarter to close the gap to the 18 point final margin. It means nothing but Auburn outscored South Carolina 52-51 in the final 30 minutes. I believe there were not starters in the game the entire fourth quarter. Resting up for UConn? Cooke didn't score in the second half and finish with 17 points. Boston chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

No. 7 Texas A&M vs LSU -  Later game

No. 8 Baylor 83 Kansas 50 -  The 8th-ranked Baylor Lady Bears beat back Kansas 83-50 on Thursday night at The Ferrell Center. NaLyssa Smith filled up the box score again with 17 points and 10 rebounds one of three Lady Bears in double figures. Dijonai Carrington also had 17 points and Moon Ursin had 16 to go along with nine rebounds. As usual, Baylor poured it on in the second half, never taking their foot off the pedal. The Bears outscored the Jayhawks 25-10 in the third quarter and 20-12 in the last. Holly Kersgieter led Kansas with 21 points. Just another Big 12 blowout for Baylor.

No. 10 Maryland 84 Wisconsin 48 -   No. 10 Maryland posted a 84-48 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers Thursday evening at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins  were led by senior Katie Benzan with 6-7 three-pointers finishing with 18 points, 5 assists and 2 rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Owusu added 17 points, 5 assists and 2 rebounds and senior Chloe Bibby and redshirt-sophomore Mimi Collins each had 14 points, respectively. An interesting stat - every player that score (6 of them) were in double digits. The other two players that played didn't score.

No. 11 Ohio State 92 Iowa 87 - In a close contest, Ohio State held off a Iowa rally to get a 92-87 victory at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes grabbed control midway through the second quarter, then held off the Hawkeyes' fourth-quarter push. The last time these two teams met Iowa coughed up a 14-point second-half lead at home against Ohio State. There was no lead for Iowa to blow in the rematch, as Ohio State flipped an early seesawing affair the Buckeyes' way and never looked back. The Hawkeyes didn't lead after the opening quarter, trailed by 11 at intermission and spent most of the third quarter down double digits. It was only when time was running out that Iowa finally sliced into the Ohio State cushion. The Hawkeyes got within four on four occasions, the last time coming with 7:28 remaining on a Caitlin Clark jumper. But the Iowa defense couldn't get any closer. Ohio State was led by sophomore Jacy Sheldon who poured in a team-high 29 points on just 12 attempts, also adding 12 points at the free-throw line. Dorka Juhász, who didn't play in the first matchup, racked up 16 points and 10 rebounds. Super Freshman Caitlin Clark had 30 points on 10-21 shooting going 4-11 on threes. She added 9 assists but also had 7 turnovers before fouling out late in the game.

No. 15 Kentucky 60 Ole Miss 72 Rhyne Howard scored 26 points, but No. 15 Kentucky was upset by Ole Miss at the Pavilion at Ole Miss. Howard added 10 rebounds and four assists in the game. Kentucky made just 21 of its 66 shots from the floor including just six of 26 from behind the arc. The Rebels won the rebounding battle 48-34 and dominated points in the paint 42-20. Ole Miss used a big second quarter to take a 41-28 lead at the break. In the second half, Kentucky looked like a different team. The Cats came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders. UK got the scoring started on a three from Jazmine Massengill. Kentucky then got layups from Howard and Patterson to cut the lead to 41-35. After Ole Miss' Austin hit a jumper, Kentucky got a Tatyana Wyatt layup and a Patterson three to cut the deficit to 43-40. However, Ole Miss would not go away. The Rebels answered UK's run with one of their own. Ole Miss went on a 10-4 run to extend the lead back to nine, 53-44, with 2:43 left in the period. The Rebels would lead 55-47 after three periods. Howard got the scoring started in the fourth quarter with a three, cutting the deficit to 55-50. After a pair of Ole Miss free throws, Howard would score again to make it 57-52. But the Cats would get no closer. A really tough loss for Kentucky. They drop to 6-4 in the conference.

No. 16 Arkansas 85 Missouri 80 - The Razorbacks offense pushed their way to an 11-0 run in the first quarter. Chelsea Dungee had six points in the first quarter and Arkansas led 23-18 after the 1st. The second frame saw the Hogs cool down a bit on offense. The Tigers would tie game at 30 with 6:03 to go. With her 11th point of the night, Dungee would move into second place on the Arkansas all-time scoring list. Destiny Slocum was 4-4 from three point range in the first half, and Arkansas would take a 45-39 lead into the break. Dungee moved into double figures for the 24th game in a row and all 20 Arkansas games this season. An Amber Ramirez three would once again get the Razorbacks lead to eleven. The Hogs would push the lead to as many as 18 in the quarter with a 14-0 run. Slocum would add a tenth assist in the quarter to get the double-double, and Arkansas led 70-58 after three. Early in the fourth the Tigers would quickly cut the Arkansas lead to five forcing Mike Neighbors to use a timeout. With 2:23 to play the Tigers would take their first lead since it was 2-0. Dungee would give Arkansas the lead right back with a pair of free throws. Slocum would hit a game changing three pointer to put Arkansas up four with 32.8 to play. The Razorbacks would put the game away at the free throws line. Dungee had a game high 27 points and Slocum added 22 points of her own.

No. 25 Georgia 83 Alabama 76 OT - I did call this for an upset and I was close! In a crazy recurrance, for the fifth time in the last seven meetings between Alabama and Georgia, the game went to overtime. And for the fifth time, the Bulldogs came away with the overtime victory. Destiny Rice had the opportunity to put Alabama in the lead in overtime but she missed her two free throws. Georgia closed the game on a 8-2 run to seal it. Senior forward Ariyah Copeland finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds but fouled out with over 4 minutes left in the game. Jasmine Walker also had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

This is the Crimson Tide's third straight loss overall and was the second game in a row that Alabama held a halftime lead over a ranked opponent and lost. Que Morrison had 25 points for Georgia. The Bulldogs should stay in the Top 25 with the win.
