Next for the Huskies is the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. I wish it wasn't Thanksgiving week. I would go in a heartbeat!!!!
I love the three games in three days format but I'm not sure I want to pay to watch these games.
Game 1 is Thursday against Ole Miss, Game 2 is Friday against St. Johns and Game 3 is Saturday against Purdue. All the games are at 7:30.

I'm sure you all have noticed by now I have a small fixation on the SEC. I do have a few "good" reasons.
1. Tennessee is in that conference and they are certainly a team I love to hate.
2. Tennessee fans brag about the SEC being the best conference in women's basketball.
3. The pollsters all season and the selection committee at the end of the regular season ALWAYS overrate the teams in the conference.
4. Did I mention Tennessee?
So, please excuse me if I look for ways to make them look bad.

The SEC had nine games Sunday. So how did they do?
Well, they went 5-4. Not great for a POWER conference. It's even worse when you look at the game results individually.
First you have the SEC teams that embarrassed themselves by playing teams so bad you wonder what the point of playing them was.
No. 12 Tennessee played their third consecutive cupcake. Not only a cupcake but an incredibly sweet and pathetic cupcake in the now 0-3 Florida A&M. They lost their first two games 61-31 to Jacksonville and 65-53 to North Florida. Just a terrible team.
No. 6 Mississippi State played Coppin State and beat them 110-38. I can't imagine this was anything more than an exhibition game.
Then you have the teams that did as expected.
A horrible Florida team lost to undefeated Northwestern to go to 0-4.
Kentucky beat up on High Point 71-49. This game might be in the first category except Kentucky is just not good enough to not play teams like High Point.
Ole Miss beat Western Kentucky 69-66 at home. Mississippi is UConn's next opponent.
Arkansas lost to No. 22 Arizona State at home. Not unexpected although being that close was an accomplishment.
There are also teams that exceeded expectations. Oh....there is only ONE.
LSU beat undefeated Florida State on the road 58-45.
Then you have the big time underachievers that just show how overrated this conference is.
No. 14 Georgia lost their second game to an unranked team losing to Georgia Tech 63-53. If this doesn't push them out of the top 25 my point about the pollsters will be validated.
The sounds of silence you heard was coming from Columbia, South Carolina where No. 9 Maryland destroyed No. 10 South Carolina 85-61. Yes, the Gamecocks lost to a team by 24 points that wasn't named UConn. How does a Top 10 team let their opponent go on a 26-1 run. Former Tennesseeboxer...player T'ea Cooper had a game to forget. She was 5-16 from the field and 0-6 on threes. And South Carolina was 1-16 on threes as a team. UGLY!!!

Bench. 1. A place to sit in a park. 2. To take someone out of the lineup and don't play them. 3. A way to lift a heavy weight over your head.
And 4. Something UConn fans fixate on when they need to complain about a team that has lost 2 games in 5 years.
I don't remember reading more whining and complaining about the output of the players that reside outside the regular rotation. It's constant and useless.
The fact is there are just not that many good players that the top 25 teams can have enough to go more than 6-7-8 deep. So, how deep do the top teams go??? I only look at competitive games in looking at the box scores.
No. 1 Notre Dame is starting a freshman at point guard while Mabrey is out with an injury. So she will strengthen the bench. But they only go two more deep so at the most they will play 8 players.
No. 3 Oregon goes 6 deep, maybe 7 on a good day.
No. 4 Baylor goes 6 deep.
No. 5 Louisville hasn't had a competitive game to look at but they usually play 9-10.
No. 6 Mississippi State had all blowouts but the closer blowout had them playing 8 players.
No. 7 Stanford has played four blowouts. I have no idea how deep they will go.
No. 8 Oregon State has played three blowouts. They played 10 players double digit minutes.
No. 9 Maryland goes 7 deep.
No. 10 South Carolina goes 8 deep.
I'm sure you all have your opinions about the bench situation. But personally, I believe it's an issue for just about everyone. And even teams that play a long bench do it because that is their philosophy. I prefer as many minutes for your best players in the games where it matters. And UConn's top 5 players are good enough to win it all.

By David in Naples!!!!!
One of the trademarks of recent UConn teams is their ability to eliminate any hope opponents might have of winning. For example, against Ohio State, the Huskies went 11-16 from the field (68.8%) and 6-6 from the free throw line (100%) in the 1st period. When the dust settled the score was 30-12 and OSU was dead. If you can't stay close when your team is fresh, how are you going to compete when you get tired and UConn keeps running?
The pattern repeated in the Vanderbilt game. The Huskies went 9-14 from the field (64.3%) and dominated the defensive boards. Vandy started out 1-5 with 4 turnovers. They scored only 7 points in the period and trailed 20-7. It got worse from there as UConn shot 63% (10-16) in the 2nd period and stretched the lead to 23 points. For the half, Vanderbilt had 7 baskets and 11 turnovders. Game over.
The early leads give Geno & staff the option of bringing in 1 or 2 subs to play with the starters. That gives the regulars some rest without impacting the quality of play.
Next up is the three games in three nights down in the Virgin Islands. Go Huskies..!!
