Doug Bruno limped into this game (he was on crutches) and DePaul limped out after the Huskies put the hammer to the Blue Demons 99-63. It was close for a few minutes with the score 16-15 UConn, but after a 24-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters, it was all over.
UConn was led by Napheesa Collier with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Katie Lou Samuelson with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Samuelson was 5-6 on threes. All five starters were in double digits and the bench did a really good job in this game both giving the starters a blow and then finishing out the game. They had 12 points, 9 rebounds and two assists.
Geno was pretty happy other than the 5 minutes at the start of the third quarter when DePaul score something like 18 points. The defense was excellent as they held DePaul to 33% shooting and 12-44 on threes. They also outrebounded DePaul 46-24, a great sign for future success.
On to Notre Dame on Sunday in what should be a barnburner!!!!

No. 1 recruit announced her future college today and it wasn't UConn to the chagrin of the Huskie fans. Haley Jones decided on Stanford and it really wasn't a surprise.
She lives literally down the road and you can't get a better education. It's great to see Stanford stay in the upper echelon of WCBB. Tara is a great coach and should do very well with Jones to lead the way.
So, it looks like UConn will have only Aubrey Griffin in their 2019 class. That gives UConn a roster of only 10 players next season of which only three have been in UConn's regular rotation. This should be quite the challenge for Geno.
But don't cry for UConn. They will still bring back a #4, #1, #1, and #5 HS recruits from prior years. Nothing to sniff at.
I have a feeling that Geno might peruse the 5th year players to add a little size. Time will tell.
I had so much fun with Logan Wednesday. Looks like he had a good time too.

Another bubble was burst when No. 23 Iowa State lost to unranked South Dakota 64-59 in the only upset in the top 25 Wednesday night.
ISU had beaten ranked Miami in their 6 victories, but other than that, they were a paper tiger, beating some really bad teams. I don't think we will see them back in the top 25 again soon, as I'm sure they will drop out next week.

By David in Naples!!!!!
Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson are best friends and the best players on the UConn roster this season. They have very interesting career highs in various statistics. For example, Pheesa's career high in points is 39 vs USF. Katie Lou's high is 40 points, also against USF. Both have matching highs in assists with 9 vs St. Francis, in the same game. That is where the similarities end. Collier's rebounding high is 16 vs SMU, while KLS reached only 9 vs Tulane. Napheesa has a high of 6 blocks in a game twice while Lou had 2 blocks three times.
Collier has started 83 games going into tonight's contest. Samuelson has 91 starts. Interestingly, Pheesa has 24 double-doubles while Lou has only 1. On the other hand, Katie Lou made 10 threes in a game against USF while Pheesa has only 2 threes as a career high. Clearly, they both score from all over the court, but Lou is a sharpshooter while Napheesa makes a living down in the trenches. Collier sits #17 in scoring at UConn with 1,695 points. Lou is ahead at #13 with 1,809 total points.
Go Huskies..!!
