I'm not sure what more I can say than what Geno did in the post game court side interview.
He looked so relaxed. Leaning on a table he went on about the team.
Asked about the confidence of the three freshmen Bueckers, Muhl and Edwards he said...
"Yeah they really are, they are playing with a tremendous amount of confidence. The more these young players play, the better they will play, the more confident they are going to get. Paige gives them a lot of confidence. She talk to them all the time"
and of course the Geno humor...
"Sometimes I think she gives them too much confidence, telling em to shoot shots that I tell em if they shoot them I will kill em.....she doesn't care..."
"They play so hard...Nika and Aliyah play really really really hard....they play Connecticut Basketball hard"
That's three reallys!!!
"Nika sets a screen to get people open and you would think she just hit a three to win the game"
Here are the money quotes -
"Right now we have a pretty good feel for where we are....great win on the road...I thought we played one of our best games, one of our best games by far"
What more can you say than that?
And on Monday's big game?
"They are one of the more talented teams in America.....it's going to be a tough match up for us....our young guys are going to grow up a lot on Monday...I know they are all lookin forward to it, they are pretty excited about it"
I think the fans are looking forward to it and are pretty excited about it as well. I know I am.
So, my take on the game?
Oh wait....I was going to leave it to Geno.....yeah right....like I wouldn't have anything to add???
Paige Bueckers. Best player in America. I think we will find out for sure on Monday. But at least in this game against a very good defensive team, she just moved her game outside a little more. 6-9 on threes? She pretty much hit her average with those shots. And she added 12 more points for a smooth 30. Back to back.
Wow!!!
I'm still in awe with her left handed baseline dribble from the corner where she cupped the ball as she took it to the other side of the hoop, switched hands and then spun the ball off the backboard for the basket. My description doesn't do it justice.
Geno mentioned the other two freshmen and they were terrific in this game.
Muhl had a great game and only scored 8 points. But she added 9 assists and 5 steals. Her defense has caused me to give her a new nickname...."THE DISRUPT-ER". She is just all over the court with her quick hands. And she hit two more three pointers. It's pretty clear that Geno loves her on the court and when she is in there, she is the de facto point guard with Paige moving to the shooting guard. This allows Paige to do what Geno wants - SHOOT!
"We're twins, it's not that hard to play together" 😂

Paige Bueckers & Nika Mühl talk about playing well & in sync together tonight vs. Marquette pic.twitter.com/zBFtu19Izp
Oh boy, I think Azzi is going to be jealous!!!! These two are just two goofy college freshmen. I just loved this interview. They are giving ME more confidence!
Edwards is just a beast. She had 11 points in this game but her energy is terrific. She had two blocks and one turned into a layup and a three point play. She could be a big factor against the strong South Carolina team.
The two juniors Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams had really good games as well. ONO came pretty darn close to a triple double with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. She made some really nice reads and passes for those assists from the high post. It's a great weapon when your center can do that. She missed a few mid range shots. It's ok. She was really solid in this game.
And Williams shrugged off her ankle issue to have a really nice comeback game. She drove HARD to the basket and wasn't going to be denied. And she add 18 points. She is still struggling from deep. It just might not be her year for a 30%+ three point shooting. But she can still make big contributions.
It was fun game to watch. Win or lose I just hope they play with confidence on Monday night. You can see more about that game in my pregame report, which will probably be out Saturday. I have a lot written already. I was just waiting for this game to be over before I put on the final touches.

Marquette won???
I always like to watch the highlight video from the opposition's point of view.
It always looks like they won the game.
The women's NCAA basketball tournament will be held on six courts at five venues in the San Antonio region from March 21 to April 4, it was announced Friday. The Alamodome will host the Women's Final Four, Elite Eight and Sweet 16. All 63 games of the 64-team event will be televised by the ESPN family of networks and available on the ESPN App. No decision has been made yet about fan attendance.
The first round will be in three cities: San Antonio; Austin, Texas; and San Marcos, Texas. All subsequent games will be in San Antonio.
The NCAA has put together a number of protocols, including 7 negatives prior to departure to SA, private charter travel, weekly tests upon arrival, and players will be kept in their own pods, w/ 0 allowance for interaction.
Personally, I love this idea. I believe we can be confident that this tournament will happen.

Part 1 - Thoughts during the 1st half...
1. Marquette has a good young coach. However, if you need to yell instructions to your team every second, of every minute, for a whole half, you need more practice. Shut and sit down.
2. Nika has 4 steals and 4 assists. Very disruptive defender... good
3. UConn scoring: 13, 8, 8 and 7 from top 4 scorers. Balanced...
4. Marquette 10-33, 0-6 from three...
