DoggyDaddy's Dailies 3/13/16

******************************************************************************

Quiet night in anticipation of Selection Monday. Very few links, and trust me I looked. So I spent some time looking at the NCAA stats. UConn is in the top 10 in the following categories -

Assists Turnover Ratio - #1
Assists - #2
Assists per Game - #1
Blocked Shot - #3
Blocked Shots per Game - #2
Fewest Fouls - #3
Field Goal Percentage #1
Field Goal Percentage Defense #4
Free Throw Percentage - #1
Personal Fouls Per Game - #1
Rebound Margin  - #9
Scoring Defense - #1
Scoring Margin - #1
Scoring Offense - #1
Steals  - #4
Steals per Game - #5
Turnover Margin - #3
Turnovers per Game - #8
Won-Lost Percentage - #1

I've listed all the offensive categories in Green and the defensive categories in Red. And amazingly, they are in the top ten in 9 offensive and 9 defensive. The balance is incredible.

Out of 32 Categories -

UConn is in the top ten in 19 categories.
UConn is in the top five in 17 categories.
UConn is in the top three in 14 categories.
UConn is either #1 or #2 in 11 categories.
UConn leads the NCAA in 9 categories.

Not that you need me to tell you, but they have just DOMINATED this season.

From David in Naples

UConn has scored 2,802 in 32 games this season. That averages out to 87.6 per game. Opponents have only scored 1,532 pts or 47.9 per game.

1. UConn scored 362 pts at the free throw line (13%), 726 pts from outside the 3 pt arc (26%) and the remaining 1,714 pts (61%) in close.

2. Stewie and MoJeff have scored 984 pts so far. That is 35%. Kia, Gabby and Morgan account for 936 pts or 33%. The two freshman have 554 pts or 20% of the Huskies points. The other 328 pts are spread throughout the roster.

3. The Huskies have shot an amazing 59.9% from inside the 3 pt arc. They beat that by shooting 79.6% from the free throw line. From outside the arc, UConn is currently hitting 36.4%.

4. Opponents shoot far worse against the Huskies, hitting only 30.6% of their threes and 34.1% of shots from inside the arc. The bad guys also only make 68.4% of their free throws.

In the end, the only stat that matters is points. UConn has a starting 5 and several players off the bench that can score from in close, outside the arc and from the free throw line. :)
