I told you I suck at this!!! I should have picked Albany over Florida as I have been hammering the SEC all year. And I picked against Syracuse because I don't like their coach. Arggghh!!!!! And of course I picked against Tennessee. As  did many others, I'm sure.

Oh well.

After Friday's action, here are the leaders -

Chappette - 140
Pinotbear - 140
Synthia - 130
Yukonepsn - 130
CinderallyJones - 130
Leniewczia - 130
WalkswithKemba - 130
Paloalto81 - 130

And my two pathetic efforts?

My logical one was ok, just a little behind at 120.
My emotional one? Other than the two people who didn't fill anything in, I was squarely in last place, tied with my young ND fan friend, who clearly is as dumb as I am. 90 points. Blech.

Geno said today when asked about his shrinking rotation - "Napheesa Collier has had her best week of practice in three months, if that answers ur question."

He also spoke at the Middlesex COC and thanks to my friend Joan, here are his words.

"Gabby may be most athletic player not named Stewie in America.  When she's got it going, there's nothing that kid can't do. . . For us to be great next year Gabby has to grow a lot in terms of believing in herself.  When things don't quite go her way she's starts to question herself a little bit. . . She's a pretty good shooter.  If she can keep making the same jumps she made from last year to this year and this year to next year, then we're going to be really, really good."

As I said in a prior blog, we shall see how good the SEC is. Right now, Albany beating Florida 61-59 is just a terrible loss for the Gators. They have been a high scoring team and were shut down by the Great Danes (love that nickname) who won their first every NCAA tournament game in 5 tries.

Florida was 3-19 on threes, continue my theme that teams lose they almost always have bad three point shooting games. Albany shot 50% against the Gators.

What SEC team goes down next?

*****************************************************************************

It wasn't Tennessee as they won their game against Green Bay, 59-53 thanks for a few questionable calls or non-calls that went in the Lady Vols favor. That and the 3-15 (told you about that!) from the three point line by Green Bay.

Another ugly effort by Tennessee but a win is a win in the NCAA tournament.

They gave the POG to Mercedes Russell? Because of her 13 rebounds? I guess when your team sucks offensively it does make sense to give it to a rebounder....lol.

From David in Naples

Earlier this season, Morgan Tuck went 0-5 from three point range against South Carolina. She followed that with a 1-9 shooting performance vs Temple and two games later a 2-9 stinker vs East Carolina. Fans and analysts alike wondered if Tuck's slump was in her head, her knee or both. Over the next six games, Morgan showed there is nothing wrong with the knee and certainly nothing distracting her from playing her part on UConn's run for another N.C. Consider her stats for those 6 contests:

1. Morgan shot 22-37 from inside the arc, which is 59.4%.
2. From outside the arc, Tuck was 5-15 on threes or 33.3%  ;)
3. Despite averaging only 24 minutes per game, Morgan pulled down 39 rebounds.
4. She also dished out 21 assists in those six games, an average of 3.5 per game.
5. With only 8 turnovers, her assist to turnover ratio is spectacular at 2.63.

Morgan's high for minutes played was 34 against USF. In the previous five games, she played 20-24 minutes per game. She is rested, confident and ready to crush opponents with moves under the basket, threes from the arc or nifty passes to her buddy, Stewie. Tuck is a big game player. She plays best when the lights are brightest.  :D
