DoggyDaddy's Dailies 3/6/16

******************************************************************************

We had fun day on the cruise Saturday. Woke up early and went to the gym and hit the treadmill, had a great breakfast, played Bingo (didn't win), saw a fun show (We Will Rock You), had a GREAT dinner and then watched a late night R rated comedian. Funny stuff.

The best news that the cruise to no where, which was going to head north to Nova Scotia and come back instead headed south to avoid bad weather in the north. We are as far south as North Carolina right now and will turn around and head back to New Jersey for Monday morning. So far so good!

It looks like UConn ran out to a big first quarter lead and played solid ball the rest of the game for their 92-51 win over East Carolina.

It was a typical UConn vs a weak AAC opponent type game. They were able to play everyone on the roster, and 9 players had double digit minutes. The scoring was spread around. UConn shot a terrific 59% with 25 assists. They hammered ECU on the boards, winning that battle 42-20.

I really think Caroline Peck is just a moron at best. At worst she is an SEC shill AND a moron. Here was her tweet Saturday.

"SEC semis feels like a national FINAL FOUR Kentucky vs So Carolina then Tenn vs Miss St. "

My god, that was stupid. MAYBE one of these teams will make the Elite Eight let alone the final four.

Shut up Peck, just shut up.

From David in Naples

When UConn is playing their best, there is balance throughout the team. Balance in shooting, scoring, rebounds and assists. Today's game against East Carolina had balance to the point of symmetry. Four starters, Stewie, Morgan, Kia and Katie Lou each took 10 shots. Gabby took 9 and Moriah 7. Points scored = 16, 16, 15, 14, 13 and 8. Balance..!!

Rebounding and assists followed the same pattern. Gabby had 9 boards, Stewie 8, Tuck 5, MoJeff 3 and Butler off the bench for 3. Rebounds by starters = 18. By the bench = 17. Assist were spread as well with MoJeff at 7, Morgan 5, KLS 4, Stewie 3, and Gabby & Butler with 2. Total of 25 assists by 8 different players.

Playing time was balanced too, with Stewie & Tuck only seeing 22 minutes of action. Moriah played 24, Gabby 19, Collier 16 and Butler 13. The iron men today were Kia and KLS at 29 minutes each. With another game tomorrow against Tulane, balanced is better.

Go Huskies..!!

Well, I'm glad I added that "Maybe" when I said that Tennessee was playing well enough to beat Mississippi State.

They lost to Mississipi State 58-48. Tennessee only turned the ball over 10 times, the main reason they had won three in a row was low turnovers, but they couldn't overcome some horrid shooting.

At 19-13, they need to win a game in the NCAA tournament to keep their streak going for 20 win seasons.  It's all about seeding.

 *******************************************************************************

Syracuse beat Louisville to set up a game against Notre Dame for the ACC title. The Orange really have exceeded expectations this year. I'm hoping that UConn gets a chance to slap Syracuse around in the NCAA tournament, but I'll have to be happy with Notre Dame doing it first.
