Great Geno video about the upcoming NCAA Tournament and the last two minutes he has some words about Megan Walker. I think he likes her. He had some really great things to say about her.

Gabby Williams and Katie Lou talk about UConn and the tournament.

Check out the video on this link where the Albany team finds out they are playing UConn. I wish I knew how to imbed that video. Sorry.

The reaction is priceless!

Really tough break for the Senior center for South Carolina, Alaina Coates. The Gamecocks just sent out a press release that she would miss the entire NCAA Tournament with her ankle injury. Not a fair way for her to finish her career. I had picked South Carolina for the final four in my brackets, but I have to admit, I am rethinking that. On one hand South Carolina is losing a double digit scorer and their best rebounder. And Coates is just a presence in the middle and in the paint on defense.

However, they looked really good in the SEC tournament. In some ways, their offense looked smoother and the freshman with the long hyphenated name, Herbert-Harrison gives them some size that is more athletic. Yes, they lose that great high low with Coates and Wilson, but without Alaina, A'ja has more room to operate and she is just too big and quick for most post defenders.

It will be tough to get by either Florida State or Oregon State in the Elite Eight. That is where I have them losing now.

There has been plenty of chatter on the internet about the timing of the press release by South Carolina regarding Coates. They released it the day AFTER the tournament seedings were announced? You think they would have been the exact same seeding if the committee knew Coates would miss the tournament.

It's a little fishy to me.

More heartbreak. This time for an entire team. Michigan was not selected for the tournament. It's always tough. But when you gather together and are expecting to be selected, well....crushing.

By David in Naples!!!!!

The NCAA Tournament brackets are out and UConn's path to the Final Four is not easy. Their bracket includes Duke, Maryland, UCLA and Syracuse. If all goes well, the Huskies should face Albany first, next would be Syracuse and then UCLA. If those three games are wins, UConn would play the winner of Duke vs Maryland. The only certainty for UConn is next Saturday's game against Albany.

So how do the teams in UConn's bracket compare in their scoring NISE? How efficient are these teams at scoring points? Start with the Huskies, who lead the nation with a NISE of +229. Here are the NISE results for UConn's potential opponents.
Albany - (-318)
Syracuse - (-315)
UCLA - (-379)
Duke - (-71)
Maryland - +45

So, only Maryland has a positive NISE. That means they scored more points than total shots & free throws. Their shooting percentage for the season was 50.9%. By comparison, UConn shot 53% from the field. The Huskies also made 78.7% of their free throw tries.

Only Saturday and Albany matter at this point. But, it is interesting to see how efficient possible opponents were scoring points this season.

Go Huskies..!!
