My granddaughter Noa's cheer team won their competition at the "Queen of the Nile" tournament. What a great job by these young ladies.

Well, the best thing you can say about the UConn 78-56 win over Central Florida is that UConn will move on to the championship game. Sure there were a few really nice plays, but the game was a little off. But as my friend Cat pointed out to me, it was more about style of play, some of it forced by UCF, some impatience by UConn and some choices made by Geno on how to play given the 3 games in 3 days thing.

Even so, there is no reason to head to the top floor windows ready to jump. It was still a 22 point lead that was 30 points with 2 minutes left before being outscored 11-3 to end the game. And let's not disrespect Central Florida either. They are a team that really improved as the season moved on.

Just a few observations -

Kia Nurse increase her minutes to 21 in this game, and she looked to be losing the rust.....a little. She did score 9 points but no assists? Not what is expected from her position.

But on the flip side, Dangerfield was great. She scored 14 points and hit 2-5 on her threes and had three assists. Her 4 turnovers led the team. Not good.

The big three had good games although Katie Lou was still not shooting great going 3-8 on threes for her 12 points. Collier with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds and Gabby had 16 points and 9 rebounds.

It was a pretty non-descript game. Lets hope for more against Temple or South Florida.

Last observation. It's amazing how quickly some fans can jump off the bandwagon when UConn has an slightly underperforming game. I know I can probably find a comment somewhere where the fan said "If they play against so-and-so like this they will be in big trouble". It's just a dumb way to look at it.

2 down, 7 to go!!

Here is my UConn/South Florida Pre Game Report.

Congrats to South Carolina, Maryland, Stanford and Notre Dame for winning their conference tournaments. South Carolina and Notre Dame locked in their No. 1 seeds for the NCAA tournament. The championships are nice but the high seeds will make it easier to compete for a National Championship.

Monday night will be Baylor against West Virginia. The Mountaineers upset Texas, preventing a rubber match between the top two teams in the BIG 12. Baylor might have a No. 1 seed no matter how they do, but they can lock it in if they win. And they should.

By David in Naples!!!!!

I don't usually mention a poster's name or the name of the message board, but this time I will make an exception.

I read a post on The Boneyard by a poster named Wbbfan1. He directly stole the information for his post from my blog and David's Numbers. It's almost flattering that he did that, but insulting that he didn't give credit to this Blog or my David.

Rude, Wbbfan1, very rude. Now enjoy David's numbers for this blog, but HANDS OFF!!

UConn road past the Knights of UCF on a night when statistics came up even. Final score, 78-56. Leading scorers for the Huskies, Napheesa and Gabby with 16 points. Katie Lou and Crystal also evened things out with 12 and 14 points respectively. UConn also had 18 assists, 10 turnover and missed 4 free throws. Their 28 baskets was the result of 50% shooting from the field. Leading rebounder was Collier with 12, blocked shots totaled 4 and the Huskies wrapped up win number 106 in a row.

The AAC championship will be tomorrow night against the winner of USF vs Temple.

Go Huskies..!!
