I was able to watch the fourth quarter of the Sun/Stars game. Connecticut did a great job holding off a very game San Antonio team. Lots of back and forth but the Sun never lost the lead, although it was tied at 59 with 6 minutes left in the game.
I was disappointed that Tuck only received 3 minutes of play and none when I was watching. Jefferson was terrific for her second game of her career. She just looks like she belongs. There were several times the she was content to quickly pass the ball around the perimeter, and hesitated to take the ball into the lane. She made one sweet hesitation move to get to the rim for a layup. A thing of beauty!
I was really impressed with Dearica Hamby, San Antonio forward. I remember her from Wake Forest and I always thought she was WNBA ready. A strong body and solid post moves and terrific agility for a 6'3" player. Her rookie year was quiet, but she is getting double the minutes and is now averaging 15 ppg.
McBride had a tough outing, going 5-18 from the field and only 1-8 on threes. It was probably the difference in the game.
Good win for the home state team!
