UConn's next two opponents played on Thursday.
Marquette played their last game before playing UConn on 12/31 against Bucknell winning 67-39.
Creighton played a tough South Dakota State team winning 58-47 with another game on 12/31 against St. John's.
Martquette will come to UConn undefeated. It will be interesting to see how real they are. They will be tested against the Huskie. More on this game later.

Straight from the Dog
Two great performances Thursday.
In Iowa's game against Loyola Chicago, the frontfunner for National Player of the Year Caitlen Clark had another triple double with 35 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. It was her 13th triple double of her career. I love that she does this but she played 36 minutes in a 29 point win. That is flirting with disaster.
In Notre Dame's 84-47 win over Western Michigan, freshman sensation Hannah Hildago became the second Irish freshman to have a triple double. Olivia Miles is the other. Hildago had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. At the risk of repeating myself, Hildago played 35 minutes in a 37 point win.
Are both Iowa and Notre Dame that short handed? I guess so.

ESPN sure does love the SEC and Tennessee. Here we have a team that is really struggling. They are now 6-5 on the season. Anyone that has watched them play knows that they have problems. Even with Rickea Jackson now back.
So of course ESPN had to have an article exclaiming that Jackson is back. Yeah, I know, she was pre-season this and pre-season that. But seriously? And then they had another with an interivew with a Tennessee player declaring that "Lady Vols gaining momentum". Really? They just beat Wollford. Whoopdi-doo!
Yeah, my Tennessee dislike is showing...

I predicted “...but I think they’re going to stumble in the near future despite playing triple digit ranked teams”. Louisiana Tech was ranked number 193 and has a record of 4 – 9 but was able to end Cal Baptist’s streak.
The last time I reported there were 18 teams working on an undefeated streak and we’ve had some fallout — there are now only 10 teams with undefeated records.
Three teams lead the pack with 12 game winning streaks – Texas, NC State and TCU. That means two of the three leaders are from Texas and in the same conference so something’s gotta give soon.
I predicted, “Surprising Washington has an easy game on Saturday but then a major challenge when they play at Louisville on 20 December.” Louisville delivered, preventing Washington from joining the other three at the top of the heap.
Texas won’t be challenged by their next game against Jackson State but on New Year’s eve eve they will have their hands full with Baylor, were nipping at their heels with their own undefeated streak of 10 games. Texas is favored by eight.
NC State probably will prevail at Virginia and hosting Florida State. If they make it past both of those their toughest tests will be at Virginia Tech. If they survive that, it’s mostly clear sailing until they visit Notre Dame in mid-February.
TCU is just barely ranked but the third of the three teams were the perfect dozen. They should survive the rest of the calendar year but will be severely tested at Baylor on 3 January where Massey has them as a 15-point underdog to Baylor.
Should all three of them stumble, there is South Carolina surprising Marquette with 11 – zero records.
UConn 158, Toronto -15.
Net positives/minutes: Aaliyah 27/24, KK 27/30, Qadence 25/20, Ashlynn 21/26, Paige 20/21, Aubrey 10/13, Ines 9/18, Amari 7/15, Nika 7/19, Ice -1/14.
Many accolades, clearly one player with so far worrisome lack of progress. Hopefully whatever the issue is will melt away!
