Doggydaddy's Dailies 12/10/14

A Daily look at scores from yesterday, a list of top performers in those games and of course a little opinion

Just a reminder - The Boneyard stopped allowing the posting of alerts when I have a new entry. Please look at my Facebook page if you want to know when I post to the blog. I update that Facebook page every time I add something here. Thanks.

And boy, what I wrong.

Here was my prediction.

ESPN Coaches Top 25
RKTEAMRECORD
1UConn  (21) 8-0
2South Carolina (8)6-1
3Notre Dame   7-1
4Texas (1) 6-0

Here is the new Coaches poll.

ESPN Coaches Top 25
RKTEAMRECORD
1South Carolina (24) 8-0
2Connecticut (6) 6-1
3Texas (2) 6-0
4Notre Dame8-1
5Texas A&M9-0

No excuses. It's clear I don't understand how voters think but between the two polls, it's also clear that the it's just as simple as wins and losses and not who is the better team.

Thankfully, all this is always settled by the end of the year and if South Carolina wins it all, more power to them. They certainly have a talented team. But from this view, not as talented as UConn.

  ====================================================================

UConn freshman from Meriden, Sadie Edwards has decided to transfer. At this time her destination has not been announced. A quote from Geno on Sadie:

"Sadie is a great kid who will be missed by the coaching staff and her teammates," Auriemma said. "Getting to know Sadie and her family has been a pleasure but she has voiced her desire to play more and we have come to the mutual agreement that this can best be accomplished at a different school. I wish Sadie nothing but the best in the future."

It was clear from the start that she wasn't as game ready as the other players in her class. I remember watching her play in the McD's game where her performance was underwhelming. In her minutes that she did play this year, I thought she had potential. She has really good ball skills. I'm sure Geno was honest with her on her future playing time.

It's clear she doesn't want to wait to play and with Jefferson for two years, Chong for three, and Nurse and Williams (who might now move to the backcourt next year)  for four years. It seems like she just didn't see the path to the amount of playing time she wanted.

Good Luck Sadie!!!

So, without further ado!!!

  1. As far as the polls......I think what we are seeing is that SC is this season's great hype hope to beat UConn especially now after UConn thoroughly beat ND. I understand the need for those in WCB to want parity for a better game but I also think some of it is anti UConn mentality.

As far as Sadi Edwards.....I wish her well. She's got skills but she wasn't going to get a chance to show them at UConn at least for awhile. I think Kia Nurse changed a lot of minds besides Sadie's.

    1. Great points, Johnnyc. Nurse has been so much better than anyone thought. Two years of Moriah and Nurse, two years of Crystal and Nurse. If Edwards wanted to start, it wasn't happening.

  2. DD, good job on the AAC, but a conference ultimately should be judged by its NCAA Tourney record, and you didn't mention that the AAC's all-time winning percentage of 90% far exceeds those of the ACC, SEC, B12 and other P5 conferences, and even better than the Big East's. The AAC also has the modern era mark for best conference Tourney record at 9-1, and if USF and the rest of the conference get snubbed again by the committee, that incredible winning percentage could even go higher to 94%.

Time to break up the AAC! Oh wait, they already did that, along with the Big East.
