A Daily look at scores from yesterday, a list of top performers in those games and of course a little opinion

The game of the week could be when the Lady Vols visit the Scarlett Knights of Rutgers on Sunday. Two teams that most Husky fans love to hate. As I've mentioned before, being from New Jersey, I've never had that real sports "hate" for Rutgers. CVS is entertaining to me. I can never understand what she says. So, now that they are not in the same conference it's easy to root for them a little, especially against Tennessee. It's a game I will DVR so in case Tennessee gets hammered I can watch it over and over. Have I mentioned I don't like Tennessee? Just a few times?

Here is an interview with Tennessee coach Holly Warlick where she mentions playing time, Harrison's possible move to the starting lineup, how good RU is, and a few other things. I think she says that they have to play harder at almost every interview. There is also an article with links to rosters, stats, notes and a lot of information listed. It's actually pretty good.

Here is an article from the Rutgers site. There is a ton of info on the game and on Rutgers as well. It's worth scrolling through. It's great to see Rutgers work so hard to promote this game.

Very cool. I wonder if they are giving tickets away like Tennessee does? The RAC will be loud.

Rutgers is exactly the type of team that gives this version of the Lady Vols a hard time. RU's quick guards, Scaife, Copper, Canty and Davis love to penetrate, and the Tennessee perimeter defense (like other teams with the new rules) struggles to keep players from driving the lane. Carter is a good defender but Reynolds and Massengale are not quick enough. Cooper plays a lot of small forward and, if matched up with Burdick, will have a decisive quickness advantage.

Rutgers also has some size in Hollivay, Evans and Butts along with the amazing Laney, who has averaged 13+ rebounds a game at 6' with a career high of 24 rebounds against UNC. Tennessee's Moore is too slim to handle the bigger RU frontline. Laney and Graves should be a terrific matchup.

Tennessee is hoping that Harrison can return to form on Sunday. She is crucial in protecting the rim and forcing RU to play interior defense. She can cause a lot of trouble for some of the foul prone bigs that RU plays. Rutgers tends to play too quickly at times and turns the ball over. When they do Tennessee will take advantage of that.

I'm pretty sure that Rutgers is tired of losing to Tennessee. Between the motivation and location along with the fact that this is the best team in years gives them their best shot.

So, without further ado!!!
