I'm so glad that I root for a team that plays such a competitive OOC schedule. Yes, they play in a crappy conference. But there are NO teams in that conference that are as bad as who No. 3 Baylor played Thursday.
Believe it or not, Baylor beat up, I mean BEAT UP on Winthrop 140-32. Yep, a 108 point win for the Baylor Bears. What a ridiculous game for a team as talented as the Bears to play so far into the season.
They set all sort of team records, but they should be embarrassed to put them in their record books. Baylor set program records for rebounds (75), field goals (58), assists (42) and blocks (17). Winthrop was equally inept as Baylor was effective.
The Eagles shot 9-66 from the field for 13.6%. Heck, Baylor had 11 threes, more than Winthrop had made baskets. They also had 28 turnovers. They were outrebounded by FIFTY 75-25.
I could go on, but it's embarrassing enough for both teams as it is.
The only stat you need to know is that Baylor took 95 shots. That's over 2 shots per minute. So, at no time did Baylor slow the game down. It had it's foot on Winthrop's throat from beginning to end.
Pathetic.

Crystal Dangerfield has played exactly 200 minutes, in 8 games, for UConn this season. Her high in minutes this season was 37 versus Kansas State and her low was 19 minutes against Texas and FSU. Her average for the eight games she has dressed for is 25 minutes per game. By comparison, MoJeff averaged 17 minutes per game as a freshman. Dangerfield has scored 55 points, dished out 27 assists and grabbed 24 rebounds. She also has 8 steals.
Clearly, her best game for scoring was Baylor, where she took 14 shots and tallied 19 points. But, the good news is she is not a volume shooter. Dangerfield is perfectly content to feed the Huskies' other scorers and limit her own attempts. Against Dayton, she took only 6 shots, but dealt 9 assists.
For the season, Crystal is 8-24 or 33% from three point range. Inside the arc, she is a very respectable 46.6%. From the free throw line, Dangermouse is 3-4 or 75%.
Many of Crystal's 19 turnovers have been rookie type mistakes where she is going too fast or trying to make an impossible pass. But, it is clear already she is extraordinary gifted with court wide vision and can thread the needle with pinpoint passes. She will only get better and her contribution will only get bigger.

ReplyDeleteI DISAGREE WITH YOU THAT THE AAC IS A DRAPY CONFERANCE BECAUSE AS OF TODAY THE AAC WINNING % IS JUST AS GOOD AS THE acc, big 10, big 12, sec, and pac 12. the AAC CONFERANCE WINNING % IS JUST AS GOOD. i know you like to crunch numbers so you can check it out and correct me if I am wrong. but I am not wrong. I am not saying it better I am say its just ask good
