December 30th!!!!
I share this one with Lebron James, Tiger Woods, Sandy Koufax (look him up) and Matt Lauer. Nice company!!!
Gonna have dinner with my family. My beautiful Daughter and her husband, parents of Logan! My lovely wife and my wonderful granddaughter Noa who is visiting from Florida for the week.
Thank you UConn Huskies for making us so proud with the win Thursday night against Maryland. What a great game!!

Heading to Florida Saturday for FIVE weeks. Hoping to play a ton of golf and enjoy the beach, the pool and my son and his family. My Daughter is coming down for a long weekend and I'll be seeing friends and relatives galore!!!
I hope to squeeze in some blogging as well, but I can't promise I will be able to devote as much time to writing and linking as I do now. But I will have my lap top, WIFI and a total lack of sleep after the long and fun days.
Don't be jealous!

UConn beat Maryland 87-81 behind 23 points from Katie Lou Samuelson. What an effort from the entire team.
Many fans thought that the only way this team would lose is injury, illness or foul trouble. Well, UConn had 2 of those three happen and they still managed to win a tough game on the road against a top 4 team in front of a crazy sellout crowd.
Samuelson was sick before, during and after the game. Geno said in the post game interview that he wasn't sure that she would even play. She threw up in a bucket during the game. And she just played her heart out.
Both Williams and Collier were in foul trouble early. In spite of that, both were able to make big contributions to the victory.
Gabby came close to a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds and she had 5 assists. And Napheesa managed 12 points and 5 rebounds in battling the tough Brionna Jones.
Nurse was terrific as well, scoring 19 points on 4-8 from behind the arc. She also added 5 assists,
I was so happy to see the great game from Chong. She scored 10 points and hit a HUGE three pointer (again) and made a free throw to make it a 3 possession game. She also had 5 assists and had ZERO turnovers. Her steady play was big in this win.
Butler and Dangerfield made nice contributions off the bench and some valuable minutes.
So, 87 games and counting. It's hard to believe. I know Geno is flabbergasted. His words. He also said that maybe these kids know something he doesn't.
Here is my full UConn/Maryland Post Game Report.

In a BIG time upset, No. 2 Notre Dame lost to North Carolina State 70-62. It wasn't that close, as NCST took an early lead that they never lost. But it was an amazing 17-6 third quarter that sealed the deal for the Wolfpack. They went into the fourth quarter with a 51-34 lead. And even though Notre Dame came close to doubling their scoring with a 28 point fourth quarter, NCST held on for the eight point win.
Briana Turner was held to 7 points and 3 rebounds before fouling out in her 30 minutes. Hardly the game for a NPOY candidate. And Arike Ogunbowale played only 22 minutes and was a weak 3-9 from the field for 6 points. Marina Mabrey was the only scorer for ND with 22 points.
A bad loss for ND and this should drop them a few spots in the poll. I said it earlier this year. This version of the Irish is not the same level as prior years.

I'd like to see No. 7 Florida State jump ahead of Notre Dame after their destruction of fellow ACC Florida team, Miami 81-66.
FSU has only lost once all season, and that was to No. 1 UConn. They gave the Huskies their best game, only losing by 2 points.
If the voters would do more than just move teams based on what they did that week and look a little deeper into the actual team situations, they would vote Florida State number 2, right behind UConn.
Leticia Romero had 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and she didn't play in the UConn game.
Come on voters, do them right!!

No. 25 Syracuse can kiss the top 25 goodbye with a 91-76 loss to No. 8 Louisville. The Orange have just not had the same magic as last years Final Four and championship game run. Not yet anyway.
Sorry Quinten, but I'm always happy when you lose!

Many "Fun Numbers" in tonight's game..!! 87 was definitely the best of the Fun Numbers..! Here are the others:
1. 32 was the 3rd quarter point total for the Huskies. That was twice what UConn scored in the 2nd period.
2. 15 was how many 3's Maryland missed in 20 attempts. Slocum made the only 5 on 10 tries.
3. 23 points was KLS's scoring total despite vomiting in a bucket during the game. Geno said she almost didn't play. Almost...
4. 5, 0, 10 and 1. Chong's assists, turnovers, points and blocked shot.
5. Finally, 8,8, 6 and 6. Baskets by Gabby, Katie Lou, Pheesa and Kia. Talk about balance..!!
Great game, gutsy performance and well deserved win.
Go Huskies..!!
