Geno talks Maryland and other topics. He is quite under the weather. As someone who has had a cold for three weeks, I get it. Get well Geno.

I just read a thread on a UConn message board and I think I am a lot dumber because of it. It's even hard to understand how someone that watches basketball can say something so unintelligent.

The topic was Sanyia Chong starting again and if you approved with the decision by Geno.

Poster 1 - One of my biggest complaints about SC is that she never makes a pass unless she's sure it won't be intercepted. She misses a lot of open teammates who aren't either 2-3 feet away from her, or at least 5 feet away from a defender. It's frustrating watching her do this over an over again. That's why her 25-5 assists to turnover ratio is so distorted and not a true indication of her worth.

She never makes a pass unless she is sure it won't be intercepted. Ok. That is a bad thing? And her passes are smart and careful. There is nothing wrong with that. Now, could she take more chances? I support. But that is NOT her job.

Then he added - The other players run around twice as much because she doesn't pass early enough.
If they only pass when they're sure it won't be intercepted, and sit otherwise, Chong will playing one on five and we'll have the worst coaching staff.

So, she doesn't pass early enough too? Ridiculous. Her job at the top of the key is to move the ball along. The last statement is so dumb,  my brain hurt from reading it.

And one more -  I'm suggesting she save her teammates from running around for 25 seconds, instead of perhaps 10, by passing sooner, even if she's not 100% certain. And how is one ever 100% certain.
She should pass to teammates when they're less than 20 feet from the basket.

This poster somehow wants her to be Dangerfield. But that is not Chong's job. She is not the one that makes most of the entry passes. She is the steady hand that helps move the ball from one side of the court to the other so the NEXT pass can lead to a basket.

And his comment asking how is one ever 100% certain? Well, Chong never said she does that. This dope of a poster said she never does that. Yet he doesn't think that thought process is possible.

Am I crazy or do those two comments contradict each other? Sigh.......

I, for one, am thrilled that Chong is back in the starting lineup. And she will make UConn a better team. Safe play and all.

By David in Naples!!!!!

Everyone seems concerned that Katie Lou Samuelson is not rebounding "like she should." Well, what does that mean? She has 45 total rebounds 11 games into the season. That is 30% of the season. Extrapolate through a full 38-39 game schedule and KLS ends up with 146-150 total rebounds. Last year she had 124, so that would be an nice improvement. :D

Clearly, she is not Stewie or Kiah Stokes on the boards. But, does she need to be? Last season, the Huskies grabbed 40.7 rebounds per game. This year, they are at 38.4 or 2 fewer rebounds per game. However, the AAC conference schedule is still to come. Gabby, who had 213 total rebounds last year or 5.6 per game, has raised her total to 90, or over 8 per game. Napheesa has seen the same increase from just over 5 per game to over 8. Natalie Butler, who had 108 rebounds all last season, has 52 already.

UConn has been out rebounded in two games this season, Baylor and Texas. Baylor was +10 in rebounds and lost by 11 points. Texas was +7 and lost by 18 points. It looks like just getting more rebounds doesn't win the game. It still comes down to putting the ball in the basket. 8-)

Go Huskies..!
