Well, that was different. Up 18 going into the final quarter and UConn just fell apart. Full credit to Buffalo. They played a terrific game. But this is not a game that Geno wanted to see heading into the matchup with either UCLA or Maryland in the Sweet Sixteen.

I have a miserable cold and this game did nothing to make me feel better.

Props to Collier who came close to a triple double with 27 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Yes, she is the best player in the country.

The free throw shooting kept Buffalo in the game. Their good shooting and UConn's bad shooting. The Bulls were 17-20 and UConn was a paltry 20-32. Ugly.

The usual low fouling UConn team forgot to show up. They had FOUR starters with FOUR fouls by the end of the game. The fourth foul on Dangerfield was huge. UConn's offense stalled at that point and it never picked up again. It shows how important she is to this team.

Ok, I got a fair nights sleep. Here are the videos I promised.

Louisville had an easy time with Michigan winning 71-50 to reach the sweet 16. I am so glad that Durr is graduating...lol. She is going to be a terrific pro. It does make me crazy when they talk about what a great shoot she is, but she only makes 35% of her threes and she was 5-14 in this game. She does make them when they count most of the time. She scored 24 points to lead the Cards. It wasn't their best offensive game, but their defense was terrific and that certainly can win games for you in the tournament. They move on to play the winner of the Oregon State/Gonzaga game.

The Texas A&M vs Marquette game was awesome! Back and forth for most of the game it came down to the wire before  A&M won 78-76. Chennedy Carter is feeling no effects from her finger injury and led the Aggies with 30 points but it was Shambria Washington's three pointer that put A&M ahead to win the game. Talk about a lack of bench, the Aggies played four starters 40 minutes and the other one 39 minutes. Wow!

South Carolina and Florida State had a competitive game too, but a late run by the Gamecocks put the game away, winning 72-64 behind Mikiah Herbert-Harrigan's 20 points. This is the sixth consecutive Sweet Sixteen for South Carolina. Amazingly, Florida State outrebounded SC 50-33 and grabbed 23 offensive rebounds. But when you shoot only 35% and 21% on threes, those rebounds don't mean much. The Gamecocks outscoring the Seminoles from the foul line 20-7 was a difference maker.

Iowa showed why they are a No. 2 seed in really hammering Missouri 68-52. The Tigers had a real tough time shooting the ball in this game and Iowa's defense. It was sad to see the career of Sophie Cunningham end this way. She was really off this game and only scored 8 points. I'm not sure she is talented enough to make a WNBA team. She sure is tough enough!

Is Holly time over? Will Warlick last the week? Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of

"AS THE VOL TURNS"

After the loss to end the season for Tennessee, the fallout for that loss and the season are starting to come to light.

Holly looks like death warmed over. Just a defeated soul. Here is what she had to say about her future with the Lady Vols.

“I don’t, it’s out of my control. I’ve been a part of this program, I love this program, I love what it stands for, our administration is, when you have an administration that steps up and treats women equally to men, that’s special, and that’s what Tennessee does. Do I want to continue coaching? Absolutely. But if it needs to go in a different direction, that’s not up to me.”

And check out this video of Evina Westbrook after the game.

She basically threw Holly under the bus. If you couldn't understand it, she said "steps need to be taken with our staff".   Rumor has it (based on comments from her mother) is that she will be transferring. I would suggest any coach that might consider her look at this video before offering her a spot on their team. I'm not sure she has the attitude anyone would want around their players.

Stayed tuned. It could get crazy!!

By David in Naples!!!!!

Napheesa Collier entered tonight’s game needing 7 rebounds to tie Stewie. She got 16 and now takes over the #4 spot on the all-time UConn list. Rebecca Lobo is 3rd with 80 rebounds more than Pheesa has now. Even with a possible 4 games left, that might be too far.

Collier also needed 24 points to tie Tina Charles for the #3 all-time spot in scoring. Collier scored 27 and now owns that #3 spot by herself. Stewie is 300+ points away, so 2nd place is safe.

Quite a night for Napheesa, moving up the all-time UConn list in bot points and rebounds..!!

Go Huskies..!!
