I got a late night start on the blog. I went to the UConn men's basketball game. I love the effort, but they missed so many layups, foul shots and it killed them against Temple. But it was fun to see the Senior Night ceremony.

Plenty of game links from the active conference tournaments. No big upsets to speak of.

You don't get anything much to talk about in the early rounds of the conference tournaments. The first and second rounds don't usually have a lot of stellar play. But you do get some games on the other end of the spectrum. No. 22 Florida State beat Duke 51-41 in a defensive struggle, or as I like to call it, a couple of real shitty offensive teams shooting poorly and turning the ball over a lot.

The winning team, FSU, did shoot over 40% (barely) but was only 4-19 on threes, turned the ball over 15 times and had only 9 times on 21 baskets.

The losing team was downright offensive - to the eyes. They only scored 41 points on 29% shooting. They were 2-12 on threes, 5-11 from the free throw line, and had only 6 assists on 17 baskets.

Blech.

My favorite punching bag, Tennessee pulled out a 69-66 win against LSU and probably cemented their entry in the NCAA tournament. Not that this team deserves it. They were fortunate to win this game, with a big lucky shot by Davis. But hey, they won. The good news is they won't fire Holly Warlick now.

Talk about bench production, Tennessee had 4 players play 55 total minutes. You ready for their contributions in all that time? 2-13 from the field. 0-1 on threes. 0-1 from the free throw line. 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block. Why bother to even play them?

By David in Naples!!!!!
UConn has finished the regular season with 30 games in the books & a 28-2 record. Only four players have been in every game & only three have started all 30. Napheesa, Crystal and Christyn are all 30 for 30 when it comes to starting. Lou has only missed the USF game and is 29 for 30. Megan missed two games with the flu and has started 28 of the 30. So the normal starting five have only missed 3 total starts.

Kyla Irwin started the 2 games Megan missed and Olivia Nelson-Ododa pinch hit for Katie Lou. However, Olivia has played in all 30 games and is the only sub to do so. Mikayla has appeared in 27 games, Kyla in 26, Molly in 23 and Camara in only 21. The three bench starts is the lowest total Stewie's sophomore year, when 6 subs started different games.

Of interest, this was the 2nd year in row where all Seniors were already starting and didn't have to get the special start on Senior Night.

Go Huskies..!!
