The time between the end of the AAC tournament and Selection Monday is always tough on the players, and tough on someone that writes about the UConn women's basketball team as well.

I'm sure glad that David still contributes every day. At least I will always have some original content when he is around!

The links get fewer for both my UConn section and my Interesting Links section.

But starting Monday night, I get to write my pre game report for the first matchup with UConn in the anticipated 1 vs 16 game. And I will have to turn that around to the second game of the weekend very quickly since there are only one day between the two games.

I will also have to set up the NCAA brackets in my blog so I can add the links to every game. I'll do the best I can to get you results as they come out so keep checking the blog for your up to date information.

It's going to be a great tournament and I'm sure we will see more surprises than past seasons.

Here is a great picture of incoming freshman Mikayla Coombs. Nice ups, huh.

And possible 2018 recruit, Christyn Williams, has narrowed her choices to five schools. UConn, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Baylor and UCLA.  The lefty guard has a terrific list of schools, huh.

I've heard for a while that she is a UConn lean, but you never know until they announce. Just to wet your whistle, here is a highlight video. Enjoy.

Final statistics for the regular season and conference tournaments are out, and, no surprise, UConn is at the top in a bunch of them. The offense came in #3 in the country in scoring at 86.6 points per game. Maryland was #1, but they had a cupcake schedule to pad their stats. The defense came in 6th, at 53.8 points allowed per game. When you combine a top 3 offense with the 6th best defense, you get the #1 scoring margin in the country at 32.8 per game.

If you go by accuracy rather than total points, the Huskies have the #1 offense in the country with 52.2% field goal percentage. Great players taking easier shots works every time. Not surprisingly, assists also rank #1 with an average of 23.3 per game. Since turnovers per game was also in the top 15 nationwide, UConn finished first in assist to turnover ratio at 1.93 per game. That is a team average of just under 2..!!

The lowest ranked category for the Huskies was free throws attempted at 150th place (537). If the bad guys don't foul you, go ahead and take the basket. Good news is UConn makes 78.7% when they do get to the line.

Overall, UConn was in the top 3 in the categories that impact the results of games. Scoring, defense, assists, fewest fouls, and of course, won-lost percentage...!! Can't beat 32-0..!

Go Huskies..!!
