More awards out for the AAC and UConn did well, as expected.
In what seems like collusion, Napsheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson were co-players of the year. It really was very Solomon-esque of the AAC to do that. Both of these players have had spectacular regular seasons and are well deserved of this great honor. AND they are both sophomores, so you can imagine the next two seasons?
Geno and Tonya Cardozza also split an award as the Coach of the Year. Geno's selection goes without explanation. Taking a team that lost three AA's and still be undefeated is just an amazing accomplishment. Cardozza's selection was quite the surprise to me. Sure, Temple had a great year, but I can only see her second behind Geno. I'd love to see how the voting went. I'm not complaining. I always love to see former UConn affiliates do well. I'm just surprised.
Hey, they all look to be having a great time at the podium!
I have linked articles and some have videos, so enjoy!!

UConn will be playing Tulsa on Saturday at 2:00. You can watch the game on ESPN3.
Tulsa "upset" Memphis 60-55. It was a pretty ugly game as you would expect between two lower level AAC teams. Lots of missed shots, turnovers and just all around bad play.
UConn has played Tulsa twice this season, winning 98-58 in the first outing and 96-50 in the second game. Here are the links to my post game reports for GAME 1 and GAME 2 if you want some detail about the game matchups.
The great news is that Kia Nurse was cleared to play in this game, as she predicted! I'm sure her minutes will be limited. My question is will Geno start her or bring her off the bench in this outing. We shall see.
My guess with this game is a tidy 100-50 type win. Geno will want the team to take the next step into tournament performances. That means sharper play with even more effort.

Fun with Numbers presents an update on the Sophomore scoring record at UConn. Katie Lou Samuelson currently stands at 600 points and 5th place. Kerry Bascom is 56 points away in the 4th spot. Then KML is in 3rd place with 670 points. With three possible games in the AAC tournament, reaching Bascom is probable, but Kaleena may be a bridge too far. Just behind Katie Lou is Napheesa Collier with 592 points. She is only 4 points behind Nykesha Sales, who has 596. Here are the top eleven point totals by sophomores at UConn:
503 - Shea Ralph, Kara Wolters
533 - Bria Hartley
540 - Tina Charles
564 - D. Taurasi, S. Abrosimova
592 - Napheesa Collier
596 - Nykesha Sales
600 - Katie Lou Samuelson
656 - Kerry Bascom
670 - Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis
754 - Maya Moore
777 - Breanna Stewart
Both KLS and Pheesa are in great company on this scoring list. It is hard to tell how many games UConn has left, so point predictions are useless. They both are averaging 20 points per game, so it will all come down to how far the Huskies advance at the big dance.
Go Huskies..!!
