I guess it's the kind of season that UConn fans just have to find things to worry about. I mean really worry about. I don't get it. I just love watching UConn play. I even enjoy the games they don't play well. Well, except maybe the Baylor game. That was pretty tough to watch.
The biggest worry is depth. Now I get that. UConn starts five great players (in spite of the freshman Williams struggles) and the bench five are not close to the talent/experience as the starters. But when I read fans talking about foul trouble and injuries I get frustrated. I mean, why even think about hypotheticals?
All teams have the same issues. They can't afford to lose their best players. Injuries can be devastating. But I refuse to worry about that. It makes no sense.
There are very few teams that get actual contributions from their bench. Baylor comes to mind as their freshman Smith is a terrific player already and does make a difference. But even the No. 1 team in the country Notre Dame has minimal depth.
In their game on Sunday, where they hammered Boston College by 29 points, the contribution from the bench was next to nothing. In 53 minutes, split among 7 players, they had 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. TOTAL. Two players were in double digit minutes with 19 and 13 minutes. So, is that depth? Does it matter to them?
Here is how I look at it. If there are injuries or foul trouble, there is nothing we can do about it. And as UConn progresses through the season, in the remaining 13 regular season games, 3 AAC tourney games and the first few games of the NCAA tournament, they will have plenty of time to get some additional contributions from Ododa-Nelson.
That being said, UConn has enough talent and with the best coaching staff in the country, have a great chance of winning it all. I plan on enjoying them making their run.

The highest ranked team to be upset Sunday was No. 10 Oregon State who was upset by No. 19 Arizona State in overtime 79-76.
No. 12 Syracuse gave away a big lead and only scored seven points in the fourth quarter losing 65-55 to unranked Georgia Tech. I'm always happy when the Orange lose!
No. 17 Michigan State was upset by No. 20 Rutgers 76-62. This was Rutgers 10th win in a row and C.Viv has her team playing some of their best basketball in years. They are now 7-0 in the Big Ten and have a two game lead in the league standings. My Jersey roots are happy!
The rest of the upsets were in the bottom of the poll. No. 23 Minnesota continued their fall after a fast start this season with a 63-57 loss to unranked Nebraska. No. 24 DePaul lost to unranked Seton Hall 84-73 and No. 25 Indiana lost to unranked Purdue.
None of these losses mean much in the scheme of things other than to probably keep Tennessee in the top 25. Now THAT is annoying.

By David in Naples!!!!!
This season has seen the emergence of Megan Walker, the Senior Leadership of Lou & Pheesa and the unveiling of freshman phenomenon Christyn Williams. The result is not enough praise for Crystal Dangerfield. That can be fixed. Consider:
1. Crystal leads the team in minutes played with 578 or exactly 34 per game.
2. She also has 34 made threes, 2nd highest on the team.
3. Her 34 turnovers are dwarfed by the 92 assists, #1 on the team.
4. Dangerfield’s 22 steals also leads the Huskies..!
5. Her 80 baskets are 3rd highest, as are her 220 points.
6. By far her most impressive stat is the 26-27 from the charity stripe. That’s 96.3%.
7. Throw in 60 rebounds and a blocked shot for good measure.
Crystal is Geno’s floor general. Her counts on her for so much, and she is delivering big time..!! 😊
